Doctor in the house (medical question)?

Recommended Posts

I have a rash on my groin (thought I'd get that out of the way first). It's been going for several months now and I'm starting to feel a bit frantic. The obvious advice would be 'see a doctor' but here's the problem; I've seen 3. I have another appointment booked for next week and I feel at this point things need to be escalated. So any advice on what I should be asking for, as well as what I can do in the meantime, would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the UK and doing this on the NHS.

So far I've been prescribed:

Dactakort and Lotriderm (both anti-fungal creams with steroid)

5 day course of antibiotics (will be taking the last one today)

and I've also been using an antibacterial scrub

Are you able to completely rule out an STD or allergic reaction to some product a partner may be using ?if you use any kind of spermicide or condom change them to something else , there are only a small hand full of spermicide Nonoxnynol 9 is one of the most common .

Are you taking any psychotropic medication anti depprsant anti psychotic anti convulsant mood stabilizer?

Have you ruled out any products you use in diaper area ,some rash products can cause or exacerbate yeast infections ,and or topical dermatitis.

Since you said antibiotics and anti fungal medications have not worked , I would be inclined to switch all your soap ,shampoo, body wash etc ,one at a time to rule them in or out ,similar to a food allergy elimination diet , if you stop using X and problem persists ,that's not it added that back and change something else .

In changing products READ labels ,you want to go to a product that has completely different chemicals and such ,multiple chemical sensitivity does happen ,so going to products that are all natural might help .

One all natural product that you can use for everything from oral care to shampoo to birth control and enemas is Dr. Bronner casitile soap ,it comes in many varieties quintessential oils added like lavender, peppermint etc .

I am not a licensed physician just a know it all ,master of nothing ,iiness you need a fire put out ,or a spill contained ( Ghee whiz my biography is similar to a diaper? Contain and control spill with occasional leaks of wet on hot stuff) .

Good luck ,let us know the culprit when you find it .

@Pwy ydy'r tad, One other thing popped into my head while reading @Cruiser 03's post, it could be an immune response that a biologic might help.  Ask the doctor if it's possible you may have an auto-immune disorder that he can treat, such as psoriasis or RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis).

@Cruiser 03 Thank you so much for that detailed response. To answer your questions:

I can more or less rule that out as my partner and I have a non-sexual relationship.

I'm not on regular medication of any kind.

I don't wear regularly so all products I've been using (starting with sudocrem and over the counter clotrimazole and regular talc) were in response to the rash.

I've been using the same moisturising shower gel/ anti-dandruff shampoo for years but I'm willing to give it a try. I was given a bar of 'organic travel soap' for Christmas so I'll use that for the time being.

It does seem to have calmed down a bit in the last few days so it seems the anti-bacterial scrub has been the most effective (been using for about a week). I'm not out of the woods yet and am still waking up itchy in the mornings. But I at least have more information to pass onto my doctor.

@DL-Boy I'll be sure to mention that on Friday, cheers.

With all things being equal ,for lack of anything more scientific, the average disposable diaper during processing and assembly from raw product to diaper uses 7000 chemicals that are in larger or smaller quantity present in the end diaper ,maybe something was recently changed in processing ,that caused an increase or decrease in one or multiple chemicals .

I know this is a reach but as with elimination diets ,try changing to another brand of diaper and see if that sorts the problem, I know that's easier said then done sometimes ( we are creatures of habit and like different things especially in diapers

@Cruiser 03 Good theory, however I haven't worn since the issues started which was late November. Yeah, it's been going on a while. Rather than being the direct cause It's more likely that wearing a diaper helped create the perfect conditions for whatever it was to grow.

The chlorhexidine scrub really seems to be doing the trick suggesting that it was probably bacterial or fungal (that stuff kills everything!). I've been using for almost weeks and looking and feeling much better down there. However still maintaining my appointment on Friday to be safe.

Give me some Chinese garlic chili oil with the Sichuan chili flakes in the bottom and I'll eat it like a side dish!!!  Love me some of that stuff!

@Cruiser 03, I bet you get a nice warm feeling down there between the lactulose and the spicy hot chili peppers you like... :20_EmoticonsHDcom:

Lol , it's funny I have been hitting the Thai red curry lately( yes I have a bucket of paste premade in the fridge (got a good batch of lemongrass last year ) surprisingly my love of all things pepper never helped, admittedly never tried using "ghost" as suppository !

The Chinese like to do broccoli root in the chilimoil in clay pots (same idea as Kim Che buried in the ground for 2-5 _years ,a place I used to goto would sign you at the bar with a dish of it ,if your order wasn't ready ,I was always early ,I wonder why?

The Doctor is in - nystatin & triamcinolone acetonide. Only by Doctors pescription. (It's a antifungal agent nystatin and the synthetic corticosteoid tramcinolone acetonide) Use twice a day, morning to night. Believe me, this should do it.

You guys suck at being doctors, same as the doctors the op has been seeing, lol. Please have your doctor actually run tests instead of guessing and then prescribing. This is simple, just scrap the rash area with a glass slide and inspect with an optical microscope. If spores, then treat with topical and oral antifungal medicine. If no spores, then run a culture for bacteria. See, all I am doing here is creating a testable hypothesis and executing a test plan, something that should be done if your first obvious guess is wrong. Also, need to monitor the size of the rash, see if it is increasing or decreasing in size.

jack.3295 (me - diaperjack101), was about the recommending the nystatin and trimcinolone acetone. This is a popular ointment used for very painful rash, usually for diapers( baby or adult). I have a brother doctor and 2 family nurses with 2 others at medial school. My ex-wife was also a nurse. I've had problems with this years ago and it lasted for about a month.  Painful as fuck. My older sister recommended this and I got to say, this fixed it. I've only had problems like this twice and keep the ointment in the med closet. You can take anything over the counter just won't help. This does.

Let me get this straight. You are asking a MEDICAL question on a FETISH forum. Would you put a retirement finacial question to roofing specialist or a machanic? Or aks your Aunt Ernestine a question about a tsx lien on your house? 'Nuff said. Like anything else, knowledge is worth what you pay for it. That is why so many colds turn into a case of cancer. And that is why I am alive today, having dodge Lynn Phma and Ann Gina

First, see a pharmacist. I THINK I know what it is. I have had the symptoms you describe a number of times. However, I could be wrong. If it is something treatable with an over the counter medicine, the pharmacist will tell you and guide you. If not, the Pharmacist will tell you that also and to see your doctot

Next, follow his advice as quickly as possible. Last August, after the Pharmacist at Rite-Aid told me to call my doctor, I was in the emergency room within an hour and a half. Everything was peachy keen until they did that last test on the 19th and I was in surgery on the 22nd. There were no heart complications and my heart is as strong as ever. What if I had dawdled? I problably would have had to have the operation anyway AFTER the heart attack AND the question would have been preying on me in the interim so it would have been a loss all the way around. Now, all I need to worry about is the problem of A-fib and that will be seettled in a month though it is not looking like that is headed my way so it looks like I am going scott free

You'd think no, but that is what most people do, especially regarding financial matters. We are basically the same level as Yahoo answers, lol.

At least Yahoo Answers gets the question to persons with SOME expertise in the field -- As long is it is not deigtal security! For that I go to MalwareBytes: And the Premium at that

Besides which, how many different  or contitional answers do you think you would get or have you gotten? So how does it help?

Well since most financial planners outside of a licendesed fiduciary are generally parasites ,I think the roofer might be a good start ,if nothing else he can keep a root over your head well you try his advice on the stock market . On a more serious note ,just because its a fetish site doesn't mean we lack training and knowledge , he'll some of the kinkiest people I have the privledge of knowing are doctors and nurses.

Key operative phrase "...are also doctors and nurses". Are any of them here? 95% of us are not doctorsw or nurses,. In fact, if you just ask anywhere, 99% of the persons who answer are not doctors and nurses, but that will not stop them from talking. Besides that. They do not have here the tools to do a diagnoxis. Starting at the Pharmacist may yield the answer right away. If not, he or she can put you on the road to find the answer. Maybe, as I have said, we should have an in-house doc. I have mentioned having an in-house shrink. At least then you have someone with credibility by virutue of having done the work

I didn't see any advice on what kind of diaper you are wearing. My skin is tough, I am lucky.. But I do switch my brands of disposable diapers at least weekly. I have a large amount and as wide variety as I possibly can. If i have the same brand against my skin for too many weeks I get a rash. and I just use another brand for a few days. The one thing as a free treatment is standard old Vasoline and even with a rash it will help, it will keep pee off the irritated skin. I agree that some of the rash creams can cause more problems. Vasoline and baby powder. is my standard if I have strong urine. If my privates are red when I take off my diaper in the morning, one thing that I do is use the baby wash soap and scrub. before I use my body wash.

Really. Some of you guys don't get it. I had a broken skin and it was the worst. If this is what Pwy had, and it was very painful and not getting better with over the counter oinments, try the doctor. And I'm thinking it will be with nystatin.

Similar problem , has a reaction to some diapers was my skin reaction. My wife (anurse ) gave me some Antihistamines and it cleared up. Over tight diapers or incorrectly applied diapers will cause rashes and skin irritations. Will originally thought it was fungal , shows you who’s really in charge the nurse ?

I had a bad rash post chemotherapy. I was told by my doctor to place warm wet washcloths on the affected area twice a day for a week for 30 minutes. Then after drying off I was instructed to put Miconazole Nitrate 2 percent  on it. In the US it is marketed under the name of "Zeasorb".
