Shy Bladder

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've always been very shy and introverted. It used to be that I couldn't pee with someone else present. It certainly has an effect on my ability to find that relaxed draining feeling where i can wet in any position. Does anyone have any advice on how to achieve and maintain this ? I've been 24/7 for 2 months now. It is getting easier, but I think personality is a big factor in rate of achieving your goal too. If your an extrovert and don't really care I would think it would be much easier. That being said I have notice that my personality has changed to some degree during this journey. It's allowing me to be less shy and more open about who I am and what I want. Definitely changes to mind, body and spirit.

I'm not sure if personality has anything to do with it. All I know is I am happier since I switched to nappies 24/7. Because I am happier I don't are what others think.

As a fellow introvert, I can relate. I'd say that my pee shyness comes from my lack of confidence that I won't leak. Not to mention my bladder usually needs to be at capacity in order for me to wet because whenever I'm wearing, I'd say 95% of the time I am sexually excited and it's not easy to pee when you are at full attention. I'm still pee shy in stalls but I think that's all psychological and gets better with practice and time.

Huggybutt, funny you should say that about erections...  when I started wearing several weeks ago to ease my nighttime bladder problems due to BPH, I had to stop taking Cialis daily dose because it kept things working too well downstairs. After a couple of days off of the Cialis, my nocturnal erections were greatly reduced. I still can tell it's there... barely, but it's not as troubling for peeing.

Now that I've had my surgical procedure thought, I'm flooding disposables overnight.  Only reason I'm not using the more absorbent cloth options I have instead of disposables is that I've been taking Azo for pain in the UT and it stains the pee a dark yellow or orange and can cause permanent staining of fabric.

Since I took my last dose of Azo on Saturday at lunch, I hope to be back in my cloth diapers by this evening.

I was pee shy growing up and that led to a few embarassing accidents for sure. But I got over it in high school when we had to shower after PE class. I think my shyness was more about modesty and the hangups I had about body image growing up than anything else. Once I realized that I was at least physically average or better 'down there' a lot of that went away. Since then I have no problem using urinals or fear of somebody else watching me go. The sexually excited part when wearing I think gets less with age. Because I have urge IC Im usually too preoccupied with bladder control to worry about anything else. I like to at least find a place where I think its safe to empty my bladder so it doesnt leak especially if Im wearing pullups. I am more inclined to get excited after I wet than before.

When I was young (college-age), I had a shy bladder, too.  I couldn’t pee in an occupied public lavatory.  So, i started wearing diapers whenever I expected that kind of situation to arise.  At the time, I was already a DL, so I was glad to have another reason to wear my diapers. The more I did so, the easier it got for me to wet them.

I always had a shy bladder, as a child I never went to the toilet in school, either they seemed dirty or other children buzzed around it and made me nervous.
I held it for all school day and had several minor accidents dring class (primary school, age 6 - 12 but accidents stopped at 10)

Ever since I had a bunker of a bladder and sphincter, I never could pee relaxed, had to push a bit harder to go.
When at teh age of 21 my ABDL became from dorment to prominent, then it became apparent that trying to relax and letting go was a problem. I could only let go when the bladder was very full and hurting,
I went to the doc about this and BPH was determined, yes, at 21.....After surgery the sphinter got all spasms and micturition problems as well as Detrusor Sphincter Dyssinergy appeared, I could not possibly keep the thing open.
After years of switching docs and getting weird looks and diagnoses, I finally got Botox for that, and after they made minor cuts in the nerves of the sphincter, I could finally let go more easier.

But after 7 years it re-emerged with full force, and I am going full force to combat this, its driving me beyond crazy....

That sounds eerily familiar. Never got an "official" diagnosis, just told that it was the sphincter was "bad". Of course, the docs wanted to operated, but I said "no way." They also wanted to make small cuts to make me wetter so that bladder pressure could be lessened. That didn't happen either. I'll manage it with diapers. They were OK with that. Last visit, doc said that I had made the right decision years ago and support my diaper usage. That makes me !!!

Sounds a bit different, they only make cuts if the sphincter won't open enough to empty the bladder. When you refused that, the bladder would remain fuller and more difficult to empty and would thus leak from overflow.

Having the cuts done would make it leak from no barrier to hold it back?
In my cae I did not leak from bladder pressure. I couldn't empty it as relaxed, only by force, sphincter closes very strong now when it feels the urge.

Yes, a bit different and you are correct about the overflow. The  clench time is shorter while the relax time gets longer. At some point it will fail completely but has been doing this for 25+ years. It's pretty weak now and the dam often bursts.
