When you say that you found your old pacifier... When you say old, just how old are we talking about here? Old from your literal baby days, or old as in 'I lost it a few months back and found it again' kind of old?

There is for sure an attraction to a good pacifier especially for a little like me and others.

As far as tips, just suck on it like a nipple and relax

The first few times you suck your pacifier may be a little uncomfortable, but you get used to it pretty quickly. I have a Little for Big Bigshield 2 pacifier and it works great for me. Only other recommendation I can give is suck it while wearing a diaper and cuddling with your stuffies. Doing that makes me feel super little.
