Tips for DLs in the UK

Recommended Posts

I started wearing a couple of years back at the age of 31 after years of just being semi-content with viewing photos & videos on Tumblr/Instagram of the fairer sex wearing nappies, wetting and messing themselves.

My previous job as a carer enabled me to pilfer the odd Molicare or two from my place of work and I managed to coax some of my colleagues into wearing too but it wasn't until recently that I plucked up the courage to order cases of my own adult nappies and in that time I picked up a few tips and tricks that I found useful which I kinda wished i knew when starting out.

1. Brolly sheets/ Bed pads/ Kylies are pretty essential if you want to wear and wet in bed, because leakages do happen, sometimes I layer a disposable one on top of a washable one for extra protection these can be found on eBay.

2. Electrical tape is an effective albeit an inelegant fix for broken nappy tabs.

Wilkinson and many other places sell this.

I prefer medical brand nappies to ABDL brand ones specifically 'DryLife Super slips' as they're one of the cheaper brands (apart from ID Expert which they've ruined with their product update and I'm still quite bitter about) however, Drylife are mainly white with a wetness indicator and I really really like the texture of the super shiny PE backing however they don't have the landing strip so you aren't able to fasten multiple times hence why it's good to have the electrical tape in the unlikely event of messing up one the tabs.

3. Stock up on baby wipes, plastic bags and refuse sacks for cleaning up and disposing of used nappies, if you're in the UK, you get packs of 4x pampers baby wipes and strong black plastic bags from Wilkinson or cheaper baby wipes from Lidl, Lidl also do some really good heavy duty bin bags.

4. Pet urine neutraliser is good for neutralising small leaks and effective for using in conjunction with air out the duvet to freshen things up.

5. Get a nice decorative, collapsible fabric storage box to keep your nappies in. Best to take them out of the pack and let them breathe for a while, I got mine from 'Trago Mills' but they only trade in the West country and South Wales though I'm sure most home hardware stores have similar items on sale.

I hope this has been a useful, feedback and additions to the list are more than welcome.

They don't have a landing zone but they have double tapes, meaning you can remove the white tape from the blue one and refasten it (only really works for one adjustment, though).

For disposing of used nappies: Sainsbury's sell scented incontinence nappy bags

I've found them pretty good, although as far as bin bags and stuff I tend to chuck the wrapped up nappy in the nappy bag in with my general rubbish.

I can assure you it's not, it's just where I buy my supplies from.

I have two Kylie sheets used in rotation. I move around lots at night so Kylie sheet gets ruffled up and somehow I become too hot.. I use Ironing bored ties and fasten both wings under my mattress and attach the ties, keeps Kylie sheep tight. I also have a cloth backed mattress protecter.

I buy the 100 scented nappy bags for around £1.99. I always wrap put used incontinence pads in them, I then I have a regular kitchen bin with strong back line with ties. When I'm going 24/7 I always empty before I go to bed.

I also love Drylife incontinence nappies. Although they are quite thick I do feel confident wearing these, I mean if doesn't feel like I have a nappy between my legs and I am confident they will absorb wetting fast. I love medical looking incontinence nappies.
