BAD NEWS

Recommended Posts

As of this point in time my story The diapering of Liz is dead.  Sorry.  Got hit with a real nasty attack program and it trashed my hard drive and the back up drive as well.  MY back up drive was being used to store a backup at the time when the damned program wiped out my hard drive and the external drive as well.  Until I can find a way to safely recover the data without getting hit again the story is dead.  I lost almost 500 gigs worth of data to the attack so as you can guess, I am royally pissed.  Warning to linux and windows users.  some asshole out there has designed a nasty virus that hits both systems.  It stops all known antivirus from running and blocks updates as well.  The damned thing filled my hard drives with lolicon and other illegal crap.  Was unable to even reformat so this nasty program has hit me hard in the data and the pocket book.  Had to buy a new internal hard drive but all my other data is gone until I somehow figure out how to get rid of the damned virus.  Sorry.

Jesus that's some hardcore shit.... Also who the fuck bothers using something like that on a rando? If I was going to turn something like that loose I go for a much bigger target....

I recommend Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes to scan the computer, along with Avast Anti-Virus. Does a pretty good job, and will also catch and kill a rootkit.

What ever you do, DON'T use Kaperski, or Norton products... Not only are the a pain in the posterior to install they both have hidden virus exploits.

What about that other one McAfee ?

One should use care in ONLY using one virus removal tool.

Having two or more they may fight each other to the death of your computer - each claiming to have removed a virus that the other supposedly caused !

I run Comodo.  The others do not work on my system since it runs linux.  I have changed a lot of security features and added some new software that will hopefully prevent another attack like that again.  Have managed to recover most of my data but still going through a lot of it slowly.  Have a hard time with one eye not working right.  Going blind in right eye so most the time everything in right eye is blurry.  Have managed to recover Liz all the way through six but seven is gone so far.  Will have to keep digging and maybe see if I find it.  Still have about 210 gigabytes to go through yet on the external drive.  The internal drive I was using at the time has not been scanned yet.  I have to find the cable to run it externally and go through it with a fine tooth comb so to speak.  The good news story wise is that most of Liz is recovered and I am editing it to remove some garbage left behind in it.  I refuse to have any child porn references left in the story.  The yahoo got into my system while the attack was running and a bunch of my stories got changed into child porn halfway through them.  Have a few leads on the person and am looking into going after the person since law enforcement here refuses to help.  Hope to be able to safely post the next chapter by the end of the month.  For now, thank you for your patience as I clean up a huge bleeping mess.

I have unkind (VERY UNKIND) things to say about McAfee, especially on non-windows platforms (but it sucks on Windows as well).

I like to say that McAfee gave my computer Autism.

Except for one royal screwup a couple of years back (and their abhorrant handling of it), Malwarebytes has worked pretty well.
