How much money will you spend on diapers with your tax returns?

This year I’m planning on spending $100 a bulk order of MegaMax and a case of rearz lil monsters or crinklz aquanauts. How much do you spend?

I'm self employed, so no return for me, I always owe.

I spend probably $80 a month on diapers, but I get more than that due to a sponsorship deal I have; and I keep it reasonable by mixing in the cloth training pants I sell on biggerdiapers.

Not too much.  I wear them occasionally,  so I'll just order a few packs when I need them.  Maybe I'll finally try some ABU Little Pawz.  Definitely more MegaMax and Crinklz diapers.

Fortunately I do not have to wait for my tax returns to buy diapers. Whenever I need some I simply buy them. The only time I’ll have to do some serious spending is usually when I find some retro style plastic pants and I simply have to buy them. If it comes to old school plastic pants or cloth diapers for that matter I have little or no limitations.

I wear 24/7.  I use 2 ATNs and 2 Huggies size 6 baby diapers per day at a cost of about $93/month.  Like @dlnoir I buy as I need.  I also use plastic pants with my disposables so there is some additional cost per year.  I get my ATNs from  Diaper Buys and my plastic pants from Mountain View, both have fantastic pricing.

I can't say.  Tax return or not, when I decide to buy some diapers, I buy them as long as I have money to do so.  I get most of my diapers at Goodwill and thrift stores and while they are not premium brands, they do well enough for me since I usually wear only 2 days a week for just a few hours.  I did treat myself to a package of Betterdry diapers late November but I had enough money or I wouldn't have bought them.  If I get any tax refund I will use it for regular things I may need, bank it or maybe treat myself to $20 at the casino.  If I decide to buy diapers, it won't be because of the tax refund and I would use my money weather it's regular salary of part might be from a tax return.

I don't use my tax return money on diapers, I spend just under $100 a month on diapers, sometimes more. Depending on what brand I buy. I stick with a good brand like Dry 24/7 or Better Dry, Northshore Supreme, Tena Slip Maxi Active.

I don't know what kind of a refund I'll get this year....if any. Some years I zero out; no refund, nothing to owe. This year, I may spend up to $30.00 or so on diapers. Doesn't seem like much, I know. But then, if one wears cloth exclusively, a small stock will be all one needs.

Interesting.  How you pull that off

My regular income is predictable, so I have a good idea on what to set my withholding level to.  This year may be a bit off due to the new tax rates, but at first glance I'm in the ballpark again.

Towards the end of the year my non-IRA mutual funds reinvest capital gains.   I do a quick estimate of our taxes with this added income, and then send the IRS money to cover what I estimate I owe for quarter 4.  Generally speaking, I come within $100.

The self-employed rarely get a refund, the opposite is the usual. My accountant is rabid about her business, keeping up  to the minute on every rule,  and she directs me on how to operate so that I usually balance out or very close to that. This year I was warned that I'd be paying and that it might be a considerable amount because of new rules and that they hadn't been clearly delineated at that point. It wasn't as bad as I expected but I did have to pay, so no refund. And since the onset of Obamacare I can no longer deduct medical expenses like I used to, so the last few years haven't been easy at tax-time. Once I get on Medicare in a few years I'll have more ability to recover my diapering expenses as I'll keep working within the limits to allow that to happen. Hopefully I'll get Medicare to cover some of the costs too, but normally that doesn't often happen so I don't really expect it but I'm going to try anyway.

Is this a new option on the tax forms? I know, there has always been the one, where it asks, “would you like to have $1 dollar, go toward presidential campaign funds”? Is there now an option, where funds can go toward diapers? :t61026:

LOL, I like that one!  :D

Many happy returns folks!

  • 1 month later...

Well i had a unique situation that I had to take care of.  See I am leaving my job at the end of the month... I took a voluntary separation, so I will be paid through the end of the year and have my insurance till then too.

I have always put about $1250 in my flexible Spending account for medical expenses.... I use those funds to buy diapers throughout the year too....  Well since I am leaving at the end of march, I found out that the full amount of my FSA has already been funded and if fully used before then would NOT require repayment...

So I bought 6 cases of diapers and stuffers, whic was about $650, then I refilled all my meds, and got new glasses for cash price (saving the vision insurance for later in the year).... I have spent it all.

Oh and my tax return popped into the bank account this morning.
