Wetting way more than usual

Recommended Posts

I usually don't wake up at night when I get a wet diaper. 98 out of 100 nights I am able to get through the entire night with doubled up cloth prefold diapers. The other 2% of the time I need a diaper change in the middle of the night. Last night I needed 2 diaper changes during the night and I was completely soaked when I got up this morning. I didn't drink anymore liquids than usual yesterday and had no alcohol either. My wife thinks that my body was just getting rid of liquids that my body was retaining from the last weekend. Again, I didn't drink any more than usual over the past weekend. I feel OK other than being tired from having to do 2 diaper changes last night and the difficulty of getting back to sleep afterwards. My urine discharge is heavier than usual today but nowhere near what it was last night. I will keep close tabs on the number of wet diapers over the next couple of days and nights. I hope that everything goes back to normal. If not I will go see my doctor. This happened several years ago when I was very ill and had been running a fever for several days but I feel fine. Anyone ever experienced this and, if so do you know what caused it?

Its time to check in with your urologist to make sure nothing is seriously wrong, your bladder may be working overtime (OAB) are you peeing more often in the day time as well. it could just be your bladder is just releasing more often juring the night in smaller volumes each time as your subconscious continto adapt to you being diapered 24/7 and your sphincter mucles get a bit weaker as time goes on.

Hopefully its nothing to worry about and it’s simply a normal progression of your IC issues but only your doctor will be able to make that determination.

Check with the urologist just to rule anything out.  I am 59 and I notice that some nights I just pee a lot more.  I do not wear diapers to bed and I am not incontinent.  When my mom was living she would sleep in the living room chair and she had some problems.  If I would get up to go to the bathroom the last year she was with us, she would always wake up and ask me to bring her cookies, do this or that so what I started doing was peeing in a big plastic casino coin bucket in my bedroom to avoid going out to the bathroom and waking her up.  These were the coin buckets the casino's had for your coins before the slot machines all went to paper tickets.  I still do that today, pee in the coin bucket in my bedroom when I have to get up at night.  Some nights I would not only fill that to the top, but I'd have to empty it in the middle of the night and start filling it again I peed so much.  Some nights it wasn't even half full.  Some nights I get up as much as 7 times a night to pee, usually at least 3 to 4.  i am over weight, type 2 diabetes and that doesn't help.  Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up about 7am and woke up to pee only 2 times.  You can sometimes pee a lot, other times not as much no matter how much or how little you drink in the day.  There were some mornings at work when I would have to get up and pee every 20 to 30 minutes, and other times I could go 6 hours without having to pee, although I was getting uncomfortable holding it the last hour or so.  I had a coworker friend who also told me some mornings he just had to pee every 20 or 30 minutes.  I do not drink coffee either.  Your wife may be right that your body is getting rid of excess water retention.  Caffeen could have something to do with it, or what you did during the day.  If you work harder and sweat, that gets rid of body water.  If you are inactive, you may have to pee more.  If you see a urologist, let us all know what he says about sometimes peeing a lot more at night than other nights.

The amount I wet at night varies. Sometimes I wake and just my nappy is wet but others I have completely soaked my nappy and wet the bed. For me this is normal and both my Doctor and continence nurse told me not to worry and both think I cope very well with being incontinent and enuretic.

Some days an nights I wet much much more than normal, it is hard to break down as to why but just normal variations in life. my "super soaker" days as I call them are rare but they are very noticeable when they occur. If it feels like something is wrong I would recommend going to a Dr to make sure everything is ok.

Other than to take meds I avoid drinking liquids after dinner (7pm) and make sure to urinate before going to bed. It sometimes feels like being young again when my parents enforced this kind of schedule on me. It doesnt always work but it helps.

My urine output varies widely both day and night. In warmer weather it usually drops. In colder weather it usually increases. It's always been like this with me and I've never found a cause or anything which altered it except under-hydration. I just diaper up and go on with life, no big deal :girl_happy:

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I did have a blood and urine lab done and met with my doctor. My labs came back OK and my doctor told me that any number of things could have increased my level of urine output. I'm back to making it through the night with a double diaper but for several days/nights in a row my kidneys were working overtime. My BP was slightly elevated which might have had something to do with it but now I'm back on a low dose BP med which is a diuretic which can increase my flow as well. I have taken these BP meds before and I have never noticed a increase in frequency and/or amount when taking them.
