Happy Independance Day America

Recommended Posts

Let's make an effort to take the time learn about America's founding principles, imperfect as they may be, and why it is better than all other forms of government, past or present. Before you start yelling, and trashing me,take some time to do some research and learn why America is unique and has principles no other government has held, past or present.

I was not a really good student in school, but got b's and c's.  Math was my worst subject and English not too far behind (despite the fact that I am always complaining about people who start their sentences with "So," and "Me and him" instead of "He and I".  As I got older I discovered I have a thirst for learning about history, people, and things like that.  I think what bothered me in school is we had to learn about things that I didn't have a lot of interest in, and also dates that I couldn't care less about.  We had to know that Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin but I never remember a teacher explaining what a Cotton Gin is, what it does and how it helped in history.  I think it's more important to learn about specific things in our past that made an impact on the world and about the time in history that it happened rather than memorizing a whole bunch of dates that have meaning to some people but don't much matter in day to day life.  As long as I know what a Cotton Gin is, what it does and how it helped in history, I really don't need to know so much the exact date it was invented.  While credit should be given and acknowledged  to the inventors, what's more important is what impact those inventions had on the world.

I will always be thankful for what America did on this day. All seemed lost until Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum saved the day. Thank you for saving the world!

Hate to tell you this but there really isn’t much that is unique about our government’s principles. Our bill of rights is based off the English bill of rights that was chartered by Henry the 6th or 7th (can’t remember off hand which one), we are a republic, where we borrowed many of the principles of the old Roman Republic. Our House of Representatives is not unlike England’s House of Commons and the Senate very closely resembles the House of Lords. The problems we are facing right now between states rights and a centralized federal government are the same problems that helped  topple the Romans, the Greeks, and many other early civilizations.

On that note, I love America and I am proud to be an American, but we as a nation are not really unique or even the greatest nation in the world. We are governed by humans, same as every other nation, and humans are very fallible

Happy Independence Day America.  Performed a nice firework show for some friends last night and we had a few firework failures so I am glad I was wearing a diaper LOL.  I wonder if any of our founding fathers had diapered desires or if that just was not even thought about then.

I am sure it was a thing, I have read historical references to whores charging extra for sailors and pirates that wanted “mothering” where they would swaddle the client in strips of old sail, and nurse them like infants. Earliest reference was 1762 in Port Royal.

Are you sure you guys don't want to change your minds?  We'll have time to run the US as well once we're out of the European Union.  Of course, you'll have to put up with higher taxes on tea...

Thank you for the free history lesson on the ABDL lifestyle.  I know for me breastfeeding is a major desire when I am in little mode so since woman had breasts back then I am sure some adults regressed to the simpler times and nursed.  Obviously the major difference is the disposable diaper.  I know for me a disposable diaper is an extreme turn on and I am so glad they were invented.

I am glad I am not the only one that does not like the word nappy.

If you read Malcom X’s biography, he mentions how he used to powder and swaddle rich people, and then rob them afterwards lol. I remember reading that before I even knew I was a DL. trying to remember where I read it but supposedly Napoleon liked to be babied too. It doesn’t surprise me that people in power would have regression tendencies.

Our past isn't as clear and rosy as many would have you believe. Most of the problems we've had since our founding are the result of our Founders not addressing all the issues well enough from the start. But doing that would have taken ten more years and might have divided the Nation, so IWon't be too critical of them.

Where we were once unique is that our basis for Law ( the Constitution) is amendable by the people. We can make it do anything we want it to. That was anew concept at the time and no other populace had such powers. For those so inclined, there is a lot of good reading in the letters and papers which our Founders left behind that explains their thoughts and intents far more clearly than the Declaration of Independence and Constitution do. Some of that will surprise you and change what you think of the Founders. They were meant to give clarity to the documents but our legal system has ignored them and that also has added to the troubles we have today. Had those letters and texts been used as they were intended to we could have avoided almost every major problem we've faced, including our Civil war.

No great nation or empire has ever lasted much over 200 years without losing it's greatness and prestige and power. We are no different because we haven' t used our power as a people to cause that, so what could have been will never be no matter what words may be spoken by anyone. I guess the possibility still exists if we're ready to do what our Founders did in risking everything for a chance at something better, but the people of today who don't understand all this aren' t going to go there. So Happy Birthday America- I too have grown old and decripit with you, and if nothing else we still have each other.

The beginnings of America were indeed bloody and messy. People vehemently disagreed with each other and there were many fights. Things could get violent as there were many fistfights, yelling, an out of control press (sound familiar?), slander, duels and outright murder. Congress had knock down, drag out fistfights. Despite all this, they managed to produce two extraordinary documents of which none has yet surpassed. "The hand of providence" it is said.

I heard about that.  What's interesting is that the first pilgrims came to america to escape the "horrible" british, and yet about 300 years later, we are in that same situationa again.

Hey, don't judge a diaper/nappy by its cover.

Pilgrims left England because they had no rights and were being persecuted for their religious beliefs (which were in the day considered "odd" and is still "out of the mainstream" today; they are known as "Quakers" and are similar to the Amish). The first settlement failed from socialism and vanished. Later expeditions could find no trace of them but later found survivors merged into various Indian tribes.

It was more than socialism which caused the Roanoke settlement to fail. They simply weren't ready to deal with making something from nothing, which is requisite in beginning new settlements. They lacked many necessary skills such as building shelter and siting it, planting crops successfully, and much more. The later Jamestown settlement wasn't a lot better but they managed to learn before failure so they endured.

History has many parallels to ours, but only to the point where our Constitution was enacted. That is where the real difference began. Much that was once taught in schools no longer is, and without a full understanding of your past any future you have is adversely affected. As a nation we are doomed because like the people of Roanoke we don't know what we need to know to succeed and we're not learning. We are only trying failed methods repeatedly and wondering why things aren't getting better. And that is still happening right now. So sad when you know what we could be and should be.........
