The day the step-dad moved in

(Hey, I'm looking for someone to play the adults in this roleplay. Full paragraphs please.)

Isla had recently graduated from college, 6 months ago to be precise, and was still living at home with no job or responsibility. She blamed the economy for the lack of jobs but really she was extremely lazy and hadn't applied for any. She had desire to go out into the world and be a grown up, especially with everything being so comfortable at home. She lived with her mum who did all the cooking and cleaning. As far as Isla could see, her mum enjoyed having her home and taking care of her daughter physically and financially. The arrangement worked fine and Isla saw no point in changing it.

Isla had a routine, she would wake up at about midday and smoke a cigarette out of her bedroom window before showering and heading to the kitchen. On weekdays she would pick her own lunch out, on weekends her mum would have prepared something fresh. After that she would settle in front of the tv and watch tv until the evening meal was ready. After she had eaten, Isla would get some money from her mum and go out with friends. She would return usually drunk or high in the early hours, raid the fridge again, then go to bed. It was comfortable for her.

Isla didn't take much notice of her mothers life and although she had a boyfriend Isla had met a few times, she didn't think much of him. She had no idea how serious things had gotten. She never in a million years thought that this man was going to be moving in, or that he had proposed to her mum. If Isla knew either of those things she would hit the roof, she didn't want anything to burst her comfy bubble. Isla's mum knew this and was why she planned to spring the change on her with no warning.

Isla was woken up earlier than usual that day with a pounding headache. She was disturbed by the sound of a small removal van pulling up in the driveway. They started to unpack belongings and make so much noise that Isla couldn't fall back to sleep. She headed downstairs in her PJs to see what all the fuss was. "Mum!" She called out, "Mum, what's going on?"

Katherine came out to the bottom of the stairs, and she smiled up at Isla.

"What's wrong, honey?" she asked her as she started to walk up the steps.  "Did you need something?"

Katherine had met Mike one day while she was at a friend's house for a drinking party to relieve stress.  She didn't even know why or how she started to talk to Mike when she had not even really fully told Samantha about her daughter and everything, but it just seemed that Mike was easy to talk to, and before she knew it, they were meeting all the time, and she found she could tell him everything.  That had been a lot of help over the last two months.  Then before they knew it, they were engaged, and now, they had planned to get married that Saturday.  It was now on a Thursday.

Mike, a bruely man with a rock-chiseled face made from an oblong block with green eyes and red hair walked through the front door carrying a box that he put down near the steps.  He looked up at Katherine who was walking up the stairs towards her daughter.

"Honey," Katherine said to her daughter.  "This is Mike.  We are preparing for a big change in our lives, and that also means a change to your life."

(Sorry been a manic week and kind of forgot about this roleplay)

Isla cruised the last few steps of the staircase to came face to face with her mother. "No, I'm fine, I was just wondering what all the noise was. What's going on?" She replied, rubbing her eyes. "Why is there a van outside?" Isla liked to be kept in the know and didn't appreciate the chaos around her with a pounding head, the lasting reminder of the party she had attended the night before.

Isla was quickly distracted by a man standing beside her mother. She was unable dusguise her disguist at being introduced to Mike in her current state. She frowned at him then looked at her mum for clarification. "Well, he better not be moving in." She said bluntly, unphased that he could hear every word.
