6 weeks later they got news that Kerri's mother had passed away.

They got her will and as executor and Kerri's guardian, It was pretty much decide who got what, Kerry was supposed to get an antique Rolltop desk and and old Grandfather clock.

Everything else was to be split amongst her brothers and sisters, equally.

They drove to the house to invintory the place.

As they pulled onto the street of Kerri's home, they were almost hit by a U-Haul truck Laurie was so upset she got the licence plate.

As they entered the house they discovered that it was pretty much empty already.  

It didn't take much to figure out the U- Haul truck was what came from the house.

April dialed 911 and gave the plate number of the truck they had seen leaving.

Since she was the executor of the will she could claim that they burgled the house.

About 25 minutes later the police had the culprits.

In custody the furniture was replaced back into the house, including the Rolltop desk and Grandfather clock as well as the fridge and washer and dryer, stove.

They were to stay with the house.

Turns out, Kerri's uncle Fred was the culprit, he had been waiting for his sister to die so he could take everything.

He went and started taking things right after the funeral.

April couldn't believe what a pack of Vultures they were.

They all had tried to steal the rolltop desk all she had to do was whip out her cell phone and threaten to call the police.  

It was returned as quick as possible.

After the place was cleared out April had the locks changed to prevent her mom's famity of returning and taking the appliances again.

Kerri's mom had left a safe deposit box, they broght a copy naming her as the executor of her mom's estate.

In there they found Bankbooks, life insurance policies, more than one, jewelry.

It seemed like Kerri's mom was worth an awful lot.

After the Insurances, Savings accounts, and jewelry was sold in the will all of this went to Kerri.

Kerri didn't know it but she was worth an eighth of a million dollars.

Her mom wanted that to go to Kerri and her Guardians.

After that was found out her aunts and uncles began to circle Kerri like Vultures again.

They all wanted to  be her guardian now.

Kerri's mom knew her family, if anybody contested, April and Laurie as the Guardians of Kerri they would get the Guardian of Kerri but not the money.

It would go to Kerri's choice of charities.

They got Kerri but not the money. 

That was okay with Kerri she was happy just living as a Breem/ Gillette.

April and Laurie never made a fuss over the money, why should she.

Kerri was happy living with a family that loved her and cared about her.

They also nurtured her.

Kerri showed signs of getting dry but she was still treaded like William was.

When she got old enough the money that was in the bank and gaining interest, sent her to a very good college she was nobodies fool.

In College she took advantage and learned hard and studied hard, like her mom, Laurie she stayed with other students, she was in the bedwetters dorm.

She took Jessica and Bryce out for dinner.

While there she asked them "What they thought about her adopting Kerri?"

"The reason we're here tonight is to talk to you, we had a meeting and it was unanimous,  how do you feel about us adopting you?"

Kerri was quiet for a while she was in thought.

"I want you as my family, I almost asked you once or twice or a couple of hundred times if you guys would adopt me.

I want a family. I know I have you as a Guardian,  but I would really like to have you as my mother even better!" 

The next day April went to the courts to see what it would take to adopt Kerri.

There were papers and motions to be filed with the courts.

Since you are already the girls Guardian, and her mother and father are both deceased.

How about other realitives?

She has them but none want her, said April.

She has a trust fund and her mother knew her family would only want her for the money.

If they took her they won't get the money.

Okay said the clerk fill these papers out when you come back there will be a $135 filing fee.

We will give you a court date and your granted the right to adopt, a year later you return and if both parties agree, it's finalized, your her mother.

If you have a copy of the will naming you as Guardian that will help a lot.

That night April started filling out the paperwork to start Kerri down the road to becoming her mother.

April said I knew that would work, to Laurie. He's been called up on the carpet several times as his school is the highest in the district for incidents of bullying!

There really is talk of removing him because of it."

April was still mad that they had her as gay she was hoping that it didn't interfere with her adoption of Kerri.

If it got back to the ones that makes that decision, she was in trouble. She knew it was false but the truth was that she did love Laurie but more of a sister than a  lover.

Belinda brought a friend home, it took April a minute to recognize that the girl was Kelly.

She came to April and they had a little talk.

So the odds were like 2 to 1.

Bryce came to his mom, April later.

He looked puzzeled.

He asked "Mom I have a problem. It's kind of weird but I kind of like Kelly, the weird part is I know he's a boy, but as Kelly I kind of love him?

April said "No, is that why you fough so hard for him?"

I've talked with Belinda and she feels the same way as I do.

A few weeks later Kelly was back and healthy again.

Kelly came and April talked with him.

"She apologized for not telling April earlier, but he was afraid they would send him home. 

Kelly said, I would rather face 10 boys like at the park by myself than see my dad." 

He thinks I'm weak I still wet my bed and, he really hates Kelly!

I'm also scared for my mom as well my dad is really mean to her as well." 

That night as they all slept.

Their neighborhood was interrupted by sirens.

April watched as about 4 cop cars a fire truck, an ambulance went down the street they stopped at the Curtis house.

It was on fire.

April's first thought that's not good!

They were there for hours.

After they brought out what appeared to be a body.

She was glad that Kevin/ Kelly wasn't seeing this.

April was sure that it was Mrs. Curtis, Joanne was her name.

What's going to happen to Kevin?

His dad wants to kill him.

His mom is deceased she thinks! 

At 0400 hours the local news came in and started talking about the fire.

They said it was a fatality.

She just knew that it was Joanne!

At 0500 they were saying it was arson and a murder.

They were looking for Kevin's dad.

April stood there watching, and not believing what she was seeing.

At 0530 they had found Kevin's dad who had tried to shoot it out with police.

He was killed after wounding another cop.

The cop was going to live!

Nothing was ever mentioned about Kevin. 

April waited and waited for the cops to come for Kevin but they never did.

April called all the kids out of school, their street was still blocked by fire trucks of all sorts.

About 4pm their street was passable.

The cops still hadn't came looking for Kevin.

April had no idea if they even had discovered him missing yet. 

By 9pm still no police.

April called the police and asked about if they had even worried about him yet?

What's going on April wondered?

Kevin is still alive. Kevin/ Kelly was kind of in shock about what was happening to his family.

"I had seen that the night that his parents had died." Said April.

"Kelly was convinced that she was a cousin of your family living here because hers had been killed."

We've tried to get Kelly to see that she is at least Kevin.

She is living as a girl.

But that won't be until she is older.

That won't be until she is 17 or 18 years old. 

Right now she is a ward of the state.

April said "Mr. England I saw that Kevin had disappeared in Kelly's mind.

He has been traumatized.

Kelly was spending time here while his dad was in town to keep her safe, or you would of indeed been looking for Kevin in Lake Pleasant!

He had been beat up about a week and a half before some kids at the park felt he was different and jumped him.

My son Bryce and My friend's daughter that lives here as well fought for Kelly not Kevin.

They see him as Kelly more than they see Kevin. My son Bryce came and asked me if it was weird that he had a crush on Kelly even though she is in reality a boy.

Unfortunately they treated him more as Kelly than Kevin I think that's how he came up with his reality as a cousin staying here with us as an orphan.

Once again they looked half starved but they filled up and Sheila said "Thank you!"

About an hour or two later April heard crying.

It was Sheila she had an accident, she was scared trembling even.

Both girls beamed from ear to ear.

Later that day the girls started talking and talking they talked about everything that popped into their head.

Gretchen came to see how the girls were doing.

She was surprised they looked like different kids than the ones she brought yesterday to this home.

Gretchen was beaming ear to ear, she asked April "Are these the same two girls I brought here yesterday?"

"Yes, said April why?"

"They look happy!"

Gretchen said they are totally different girls.

April was more than glad to take a chance to be Sheila and Sheena's mother.

She got permission to start the girls in school the last couple of weeks.

Gretchen talked to the girls she asked "If they had ever visited a grandpa or grandmother, aunts and uncles, cousins."

The girls said "They both remember a grandmother but she died.

They don't remember any aunts and uncles or cousins.

They want to live with April she is really nice to them, they love her and she loves them.

They told her about Sheena having an accident.

She thought she was dead.

April didn't even get upset.

These two wanted to stay here. 

A week later they had found a distant cousin.

The house though it was clean reeked of cigarettes.

Gretchen was disappointed and glad the two girls were thriving.

They were in school and attending classes, their own mother didn't see education as important.

They were behind, but with April's help were catching up quickly.

The two girls were also getting the positive love and support that kids need to survive from not just from April, but they had brothers and sisters, plus the help of Laurie and her family.

It was a different dynamic of a household.

You had two families living together and even though it wasn't a homosexual relationship they were in love with each other but it was more like a sisterly love, not a sexual one.

The best thing for the 4 kids that they had been placed there was that in their own homes that they had came from, they were different they were bedwetters and seen as differently.
