Being new to this site and just starting to get to know a few of you, I was curious how many people here are currently serving in the military? I served in the Army from 1995-1998 in field artilary and then from 2006-2012 as a logistics specialist. I am currently serving as weekend warrior trying to get 8 more years in for retirement. Military life has been difficult for me to juggle with this lifestyle, especially when it comes to deployments and traveling for weeks or months at a time for training. I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has had this experience and if so how did you cope?

I was active duty Air Force from 1990-2012.

I deployed to Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010, both times were over a year. I just went cold turkey. With everyone getting alcohol sent to them, 1st Sgt made everyone open their mail in front of him

I was in the USMC from 1997 to 2009 and was an aircraft electrician on F/A-18s.

I wore diapers in Afghanistan as a government contractor.

Contractors had it made in Iraq and Afghanistan. I tried getting a contractor job after I came off active duty.

The government has cracked down a lot on contractors in Afghanistan.

Yeah that's how it was lol I was good friends with our Osh Kosh rep, we spent many a days just playing cards and watching movies. He had access to the best booze too
