James nodded absently, not looking away from the TV.

"What's he wearing?" Paul asked nervously.

"He's in a pull-up," Sharon assured him. "Thanks for the heads-up about the training pants this morning, by the way."

Paul shrugged.

[Carrie96]

"Well, he w-e-t all over me," Sharon said, not wanting to embarrass James. "It's okay, I should have checked. That'll probably happen to both of us several more times before he's completely trained." Sharon left the room to go cook dinner.

Paul and James cuddled together in the chair, watching TV.

Sharon played music from her phone and sipped a glass of wine while she cooked dinner. Once the soup was cooking on the stove, she took her phone and her refilled glass of wine to the back porch, needing a little time to herself after taking care of a sick toddler all day.

Meanwhile, James's little bladder was starting to fill again, and he shifted against Paul when the urge got

Sharon sat outside for a little while longer before going back inside to check on dinner. "Paul? Do you or James want a grilled cheese?" She called into the living room.

Hearing Sharon's question, James looked up at Paul and shook his head.

"I do, but James doesn't," Paul replied.

"All right. Dinner will be ready in just a few minutes." Sharon stirred the soup and started making grilled cheese sandwiches for herself and Paul.

Paul carried James into the kitchen and sat him in his booster seat while he helped Sharon finish up with dinner.

Sharon got her own dinner and kissed James's forehead to check his temperature before she sat down. "Honey, do you have to go potty before we eat?"

James shook his head.

"I just took him to pee-pee not long ago," Paul confirmed.

"All right." Sharon helped James eat as she ate her own food.

Paul ate quickly and took over with James once he was finished so Sharon could eat.

James started getting sleepy a little while after dinner, so Sharon bathed him, helped him go potty, and put him in a diaper and pajamas a little earlier than normal. She gave him some medicine and rocked him in the living room until he fell asleep, then tucked him in in her and Paul's bed, wanting him to sleep with them since he wasn't feeling well.

James woke up later that night and started whimpering before he realized he was in bed between his mommy and daddy.

Sharon unconsciously wrapped her arms around James when he started stirring, but didn't wake up.

James fell asleep again pretty quickly.

Sharon woke up when James started stirring and lifted him out of bed. She checked his diaper as she picked him up, and he was soaked. "Let's go get you changed, honey. How are you feeling?"

James coughed and lay down on Sharon's shoulder.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart." Sharon felt his forehead. "Your fever's gone down a little bit. We'll see how you're feeling later today. I may need to take you to the doctor." Sharon took James to the bathroom to try to pee-pee, then cleaned him up and put him in a pull-up.

After breakfast, James was sluggish and just wanted to lie down in Sharon's lap.

Sharon needed to get some things done for work, but that wasn't happening with James glued to her. "James, honey, if I call Nana to come over, will you let her hold you so Mommy can work for a little bit?"
