The server took the sippy cup and smiled.

"No problem. I have a three year old daughter that is obsessed with Sofia the first. i'll be back with your drinks in a few minutes."

"Thank you very much. Yeah, she gets fussy and antsy easily, if she has nothing to do. Grace, take your binky out and say thank you too our nice server. She brought you stuff to color." Alexis says happily.

[robehouse]

Jimmy smiled as she thanked the server. He took a sip of his tea.

"You're welcome, baby girl." The server said to Grace before leaving.

"Why don't you color a picture for aunt Emma and uncle John and you can take it to them the next time we go over there?" Jimmy suggested.

Grace nodded and agreed. Alexis put the picture and crayons in front of her as well as the sippy cup of milk.

Jimmy sat back and relaxed, watching Grace color as they waited for their food.

Grace colored and every now and then would take sips of her milk

The server came back with the food, and gave Jimmy the chicken Parmesan. She set the spaghetti and the mac and cheese in front of Alexis and looked at the picture that Grace was coloring.

"Good job honey. that's much better than my little girl can do. You're staying in the lines really well. How old are you, honey?"

Grace frowned when she was asked how old she was. She didn't want her to laugh at her or anything if she said she was 17 but she didn't want to lie and say she was younger.

Jimmy removed her pacifier and held her hand.

"Come on baby. Tell the nice lady how old you are. You''re a big girl, right?"

Jimmy looked at the server.

"She's had a rough time of it lately. She was kicked out of her house and we took her in and are caring for her. It has been traumatic for her."

"I can imagine." The server said.

"Come on baby. It'll be okay, just tell the truth honey. That's always best."

"I'm... 17 ma'am." Grace still didn't look up though. Too scared to see her reaction. But they did say to tell the truth. She was gripping the crayon nervously. She didn't want anyone to be mad or weirded out though.

The server smiled when Grace told her how old she was and kissed Grace's cheek.

"That's a nice age. I hope my daughter is as beautiful as you when she is seventeen, baby. Have a nice evening. I'll be back with the check in a bit."

The server left.

Jimmy smiled at Grace.

"See? That wasn't so bad was it? Are you ready for your dinner?"

"Yeah..." Grace says softly.

Jimmy smiled as he watched Alexis feed Grace like a baby. He started eating his chicken Parmesan.

"How is the mac and cheese, baby?"

"It's yummy and cheesy Jimmy " Grace says. She had a couple more bites. Then drank some of her milk.

Jimmy smiled.

"I'm glad you like it, baby. They do make good food here. How is your spaghetti, Alexis? My chicken Parmesan is delicious."

Jimmy took another bite of his food and then drank some tea.

"It's really good. I'm glad you like your food." Alexis smiled. She fed Grace a few more bites. Altering between her and Grace eating.

[robehouse]

Jimmy finished eating his dinner, then picked up the dessert menu.

"How about if Grace eats all her dinner, we let her have some ice cream?" Jimmy asked.

"That sounds like a nice idea, doesn't it Grace?" Alexis asks feeding her another bite.

[robehouse]

Jimmy waved to the server, who came over. he ordered a dish of vanilla ice cream for Grace.

"Do you want a dessert, honey?" Jimmy asked Alexis.

"Yes, I would like a small slice of cheesecake."

[robehouse]

"I'll have some apple pie." Jimmy told the server.

The server jotted down the order and left the table.

She returned in a few minutes with all three desserts.

"Here you go. I put a little bit of chocolate syrup on top of the ice cream along with whipped cream for the cutie." The server said.

Jimmy passed the cheesecake and ice cream over to Alexis.

"Thank you." Grace says smiling.

Jimmy smiled and watched Grace eat her ice cream and ate his pie as well.

Grace ate most of her ice cream. Alexis ate her cake as well.

Jimmy motioned to the server to come over.

"Can I have the check please?"

"Of course sir, was everything satisfactory?" She asked.

"Yes, thank you.?

Jimmy was given the check. The server took a small teddy bear out of her pocket and held it out to Grace.

"Here you go, baby. Would you like a little teddy?"
