Penny did as she was told and picked out the book

John smiled and tucked Penny in before starting to read, sitting on the edge of the bed. Once he was done he kissed her forehead and whispered goodnight before turning out the lights and heading to his room. "Finally some peace."

While John out Penny to bed Diana went to check on Mary.

Mary was still fast asleep. Though she was allowed to stay up as late at Penny, she rarely ever got there. Things were too exhausting for her to be awake for that long. She slept soundly through the night, a recent achievement for her.

Penny woke up and scurried downstairs when she smelled the coffee. "Daddy! What are we doin' today?" she asked as she hugged his legs.

"I don't know yet baby." John said scooping Penny up. "Lets go get Sissy awake okay? I think mommy needs to sleep some more."

"Okay!" Penny waited for John to set her down and climbed up on Mary's bed. "Oh sissy, it's time to get up," she said in a sing-song voice and giggled as she tried to pry her eye open.

"Be gentle." Johnson reminded gently.

"Mary, you wanna play a game? Like Connect Four?" Penny asked once her sister was up.

Mary nodded happily and smiled at her sister. "I red!" She said cheerfully.

"We will," Penny promised as she got the game set up. She pushed the red pieces over so Mary could reach them. "I'm goin' first since you picked what color to be," she said before dropping in a black piece.

Mary nodded and placed her red piece in after her sister. "Gon

"Nuh uh, I'm gonna win." Penny grinned and dropped her next piece in.

Mary kept dropping her pieces in, eventually being beat by her little sister.

"Ooo, yeah! I wanna go to the park!" Penny said excitedly as she climbed up in her chair.

Mary smiled and was very happy about the idea of the park. Not many places could she feel like every other kid there. "Park! Park!" She said before shakily taking some eggs.

Diana woke up and came downstairs. "What's all the commotion about?" she asked as she ruffled Mary's hair. "Someone is awfully excited today."

"Park!" Mary squealed before Johnson could get a word in.

"Yeah, that's a good idea," Diana said as she got herself a cup of coffee. "If you can manage the two of them I'll go grocery shopping, and then we can all do something fun together later," she suggested, thinking it would be easier that way, rather than dragging the kids to the store.

"I'm sure I can." John assured his wife, pretending that he remembered they had to go grocery shopping. "Any ideas for after the park?"
