Cudos to Amazon Prime

A package I ordered from Amazon did not arrive Christmas Eve as promised. I sent them a brief email saying that choosing the Post Office for a package on that day was probably not the best idea - and that the delay had caused me to have to go out Christmas Eve night to get pet food (one of the items in the package) to last until the package comes tomorrow.

With an hour I got an email apologizing for the delay and giving me a $10 gift certificate AND an extra month of Amazon Prime free. How's that for service?

My guess & from the sound of your email Mike was that it was courteous & respectful in spite of your valid complaint, & I would say that Amazon saw that while you had a valid complaint, you were courteous & respectful about seeking a resolution, so they gave you good customer service/resolution. I think a lot of consumers could learn from your example.

Probably doesn't hurt that I almost never write them at all; have been a prime member from the day they launched it and a buyer since June 2000

I've been let down a few times by Amazon, but they've always made it right.

That is how customer service is supposed to work (having been in customer service for 12 years, 4 of them a manager).
