A Message to all ABDLs

I don't want this to become a political or country bashing thread so please keep comments on topic! Any posts that go into anything like bashing of politics or countries will be removed.

The UK government recently announced a proposal that has been added to a bill almost certain to pass through Parliament that will censor what it terms as "non-conventional" pornography. This includes many very legal kinks/fetishes/basic bodily functions that are done by two consenting adults.

Things the proposed bill will block include BDSM, female orgasm and, most pertinent of all, age based role play between consenting adults

Under the proposal even websites such as this one would be at risk from being blocked. Forget the slippery slope argument that some censorship inevitably leads to more censorship, I think for many of us losing access to ABDL or age play websites would be a crushing blow.

There is a lawyer who is crowdfunding to try and fight these law changes and he asks for just $1 a month (Though you can donate more if you choose) to do so: https://www.patreon.com/MylesJackman

I ask anyone who can spare the money, whether UK based or not, to consider giving to him and spreading the word. Censorship like this should be blocked wherever and whenever it is found.

I hope that people will look into this, spread the word, protest, and help fund the fight against such flagrant censorship.

This is a proposal that was added to a bill that has a very strong chance of passing. The "Digital Economies Bill" I believe: https://services.parliament.uk/bills/2016-1/digitaleconomy.html

Here is it's summary: A Bill To make provision about electronic communications infrastructure and services; to provide for restricting access to online pornography; to make provision about protection of intellectual property in connection with electronic communications; to make provision about data-sharing; to make provision about functions of OFCOM in relation to the BBC; to provide for determination by the BBC of age-related TV licence fee concessions; to make provision about the regulation of direct marketing; to make other provision about OFCOM and its functions; and for connected purposes.

Here is an article about this particular amendment: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/nov/23/censor-non-conventional-sex-acts-online-internet-pornography

Here are some of the things banned:

Spanking

Caning

Aggressive whipping

Penetration by any object "associated with violence"

Physical or verbal abuse (regardless of

Sounds like Mary Whitehouse all over again :bash: I do hope at least some MP's will see this as more restrictive than being in the EU and state that publicly as they fight it :mf_swordfight: If anyone finds a consolidated movement against it (or any info really) please add it here.

And everyone: please join in this fight for freedom!

  • Elfy pinned this topic

I wish more people would make some noise about this and report on it and get some attention to it like Elfy is on this forum, so far most of the news and stuff people are talking about is the outcome of the American elections or Brexit or something else unrelated.

That is because they are being deliberately vague with everything.

They are handing the regulation of whether a site has to be blocked or not to the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification). This group already have rule as to what can't be produced in this country that includes spanking which leaves a mark, age related role play, BDSM and a bunch of other things. The new rules are that if it wouldn't be certified for DVD, it won't be certifiable online.

We already have laws about age verification, there are already blocks already put on porn (you need to go to your ISPs website to remove them), there already exists software which will block adult content... This is just an excuse for censorship that will either not work at all or will catch places like Reddit, Tumblr and others in its catch all net. A forum like this would be an easy block for them.

This is a good article with all the latest news on it: http://uk.businessinsider.com/uk-ban-non-conventional-pornography-censorship-reddit-tumblr-digitaleconomy-bill-2016-11

Quite frankly, I don't want to live in a place where not only is the internet censored but I can no longer engage with people like me on here or in other similar places. That is too much.

I don't think it is hypocritical to block someone breaking the rules of the forum and being very worried about a whole country blocking access to all ABDL content because they don't like it.

Elfy is right - not hypocritical at all.

Elfy's role on this site is to ensure the rules are observed (rules that are in place for very good reasons). We all of us have to live within the rules that society imposes on us ... and in a voluntary association like this site, we abide by the rules of the voluntary association.

The issue here is one stage removed. It is an issue of what the rules of our society should be. There is a proposal to change them in an intolerant way which will make sites like this impossible to operate within the law. What Elfy is saying is that we need to go and talk to our representatives on the law-making body, the people who have the power to change the rules whether we like it or not, and persuade them that this particular rule change is uncalled for, unnecessary, unworkable, intolerant, misconceived ... insert your own objection here.

My own MP is, unfortunately, Nadine Dorries, and I don't think I'll get much of a hearing there ...
