The Mistaken Patient *Private with Tain*

It was Sunday after noon. Noah Smith was visiting in old friend who was in the hospital for a car accident. Noah is a small for his age. He's 18 and stands about 4'8. He's very shy and usually is capable of doing things his own.

Danei was 28 and had just started a career in paediatric nursing. She was tall and rather beautiful, with bright red hair she kept tied in a ponytail.

She was coming round the corner from the nurse

Noah thought the woman was very pretty and seemed very nice.

"Oh... No. I'm just looking for the way out of here. This is a big building and I'm not familiar with it." He explains.

"I'm sorry sweetheart but I can't let you out without your Mommy, okay. I'm gonna take you to the nurse's station while I call reception to find out where your Mommy is. Can you tell me your name please?" Danei takes his hand and leads him back to the nurse's station.

Once there she picks him up and puts him on a chair while she asks another nurse to deliver the syringes. "Anne could you take these

"Absolutely Danei." Anne says taking those on her cart that she had been taking down the hall.

Danei smiled the tolerating smile of a preschool and kindergarten teacher, the one which gives the illusion of interest to small children.

"Sure thing.", she said, "But I still have to try and get a hold of your Mommy." She rung reception, "Hi this is Danei Birch, floor 3 paediatric nursing station, I have a lost child with me, could you ask the Mother if Noah Smith to come to the nursing station please? Thankyou." She hangs up.

"Now, is there anything I can get you? A drink? Some Syrup or water?"

"I'm telling you she's not here anyways." Noah says. He sighed from frustration. Sure people mistaked his age but never did this before.

"I know but we need to get hold of her." Danei goes and gets him a drink of water from the bottle in the refrigerator. She, much to Noah's annoyance puts it in a sippy cup. She givesit

"I can drink out of a regular cup ma'am." Noah says.

"Noah I know you keep saying you're 18 but without any ID we're not allowed to let you out. It isn't a case of there being

"I left my wallet in my car. Otherwise I would show you my ID." Noah says.

"I am sorry, but I find that story difficult to believe you do not look like you are 18." Thw doctor sighed. "Well seeing as we can't get a hold of your mother, I am authorising you to stay here

Noah sighed. He figured they wouldn't believe him. He really didn't know how he was going to explain this to his mother.

"Now, now Noah calm down. It's 5 o'clock." She pronounced five o'clock slowly as if to a little kid just learning how to tell the time.

"So the cafeteria is on our way so if you want to get something to eat we can."

She knelt down and looked him in the eye.

Well Noah was pretty hungry. "Do they have grilled cheese?" He asks giving in. It looked like they weren't going to let him him go anytime soon.

"Yss they have grilled cheese sandwiches, and you can have a desert...if, you drink your water like a good boy."

She takes him into the cafeteria, it looked comfy with carpeted floors and wood panelling. She took him over to the counter, "One grilled cheese sandwich please, what desert do yo want Noah."

A dessert did sound good. "Um can I have pie or ice cream?" Noah asks. He looked at his sippy cup. "Are you sure I can't have a regular cup?" Noah asks the nurse.

"Well how about I take the top off when we get to our table. And yes we can get some Ice cream, is vannila good." She takes the bowl and puts on the tray along with the sandwich.

She then takes him over to a table.

Noah nodded. He would be okay with that. "Okay that'll

Danei felt she could let him get up by himself, but she cut up his sandwich for him and put it in front of his seat.

She took the top off the sippy cup.

"Thank you. What do I call you?" Noah asks. He started to eat his sandwhich feeling hungry. He took a sip of his water.

"You can call me Danei for now." She says waiting for him to finish eating.

After he finishes the samdwich she gives him the ice cream.
