And on the other hand a business that builds itself as mail order and not a traditional fee for service walk out with your item, also to me on some level says to me that is a chosen cost of doing business and rightfully should not be passed along to the customer, unless the customer had the ability to buy the product through a tradiational business channel for a lesser price and chose not to, that is why many companies that charge shipping and handling don't get any of my business because they are passing along a cost of doing business that they decided on not you.If you choose to completely limit the availability of your product to the customer it becomes your expense , just look at the "wellness brief" advertising for proof of that they list shipping as an additional savings of $20 dollars off the "unusual" "infrequent sale price" they are always running some kind of sale gimmicks to compel you to buy ,to give the illusion of saving money when in fact they are giving you the product for the "normal" customary price . Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk I pretty much covered this point when I discussed the fact that he has to eat the UPS charges, which of course forces him to increase the price of the diaper itself. Flip side of that is, he's offering free shipping anywhere in the lower 48, which means he makes more money when he ships a city away than he does the opposite coast, which is why we're not inclined to bundle shipping.
DprDJeff Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I just wanted to inject something here. The new owners of ABU have shipped my orders quickly and perfectly every time. The old owners(and owners of netdiapers) still owe me two cases of diapers that were never shipped. That being said, I will never give netdiapers my money.

Bettypooh Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 About all I can add is that if there is a profit to be made, somebody will step into that void and start making money from it. And if the potential profit is high, not one but many will step in. There are only a few AB diaper companies so the profits aren't high enough to draw in the other people and their money. It's more of an 'enthusiasts' industry where profit isn't the main motivator. There's plenty of venture capital out there for smaller concerns like this. Which brings up another aspect- uninsurable losses. I had a lucrative company going and was at the point of beginning the massive growth from the niche I'd been focused on. I had more general business supporting that to keep the cash flow going, I'd made and paid for almost all of the investments I'd need so there would be few entries on the red side of the ledger now. 2

The initial investment is massive, so you need to be wealthy to start or have the most amazing credit in the world. Once you have the initial investment lined up, you need to be prepared to wait a year before you start making money. All of the manufacturers are in China and the waiting list for an order is long. The minimum for an order is usually a shipping container worth, so you can imagine the cost. This is a boilerplate list, essentially, of why PetiteAB has been two years in the developmental process.
