Where do you draw the line?

Recommended Posts

Since the terms aren't something I'm familiar with I would like to know, where do you draw the line between infant, baby, toddler, adult kid and teenager?

I've caught myself referring to undergraduate students as "kids."

"Kid" can sometimes be derogatory, but I never mean it like that. Most undergrads are just like 5-7 years younger than me, but that's such a big difference in some aspects.

I think its wrong to call 18 and 19 for teenagers, even though "teen" comes from the fact that the numbers/ages have "teen" in them, its mostly used in the porn industry and when joking with them "your not an adult, you still

They overlap as far as I'm concerned.

I think of 'infant' and 'baby' as synonyms but if I had to pick I would say 'infant' is only up to about 3 months.

'Baby' is up to 2 and a half years old in my opinion.

'Toddler' is 2 to 3 and a half years old.

Adult kids usually regress to somewhere between 5 and 10 in my experience.

Actual 'kids' are 3 to 12 years old in my opinion.

'Teens' are, as you say, 13 to 19. Arguably 'teenagerhood' goes up to 21 in places where that is the age of majority.
