Would a urethral stricture hinder incontinence training?

Recommended Posts

I was just interested in the thoughts of people (if anyone) has had the misfortune of having a stricture (made up of something like scare tissue), but trying to be incontinent at the same time.

Yes scar tissue within your urethra most certainly can block off your urethra.

I have a neurogenic blockage which means my own sphincter has been blocking my urethra. I'm about to undergo a third sphincterotomy to open me up again, but each time I'm given the warning that the cuts could form enough scar tissue later on that would block me off again and require another surgery.

I fully understand about the intense concentration, and I'm guessing you may be pushing at least some in order to go. (I had to push a lot). My advice would be to get it removed again.

I'd say that this is one of those cases where becoming incontinent might just help...since scar tissue forms in response to trauma, and if you are pushing hard to pee, that section of the urethra just might not like it and form more scar tissue!
