Not keeping very good track on my ROI since it's a hobby, but I would say I am close to breaking even now (hard to track overall spend as I re-sold and upgraded some equipment as I was learning.)

Hm from what I've gathered from reddit and the such, isn't mining incredibly slow right now and till the rest of the coins are mined?

The difficulty is way up now, so yes it takes a long time to mine any amount of value, but bitcoin still has the most future potential to grow in value and be worth more than the alt-coins. The key is to be in a good pool, so you don't have to solve a block yourself, but when anyone in the pool does you all share the reward based on how much work you did. (ie: how powerful your equipment is)

DailyDi - as a hobby then its great you enjoy it and I agree you should continue as long as you do so.

Well it is true some people have already bought cars and even apartment with their bitcoin mining. If it's anything like everything else then it's probably undervalued early on but will be worth more later on (like it already is).
