heartwood
So always is making pullups and incontinence pads? Have I been under a rock or did this just sneak up. I was surprised to see them at my local Walmart. They are heavily scented and I love it. They also have a standing leak guards which are purple. The front & back of the pad features faint cartoonish ivy. Beyond that it's just another pull-up. http://blog.caregiverpartnership.com/2014/04/theyre-back-is-p-reentering.html Link to comment
DiaperedPony
That is interesting to read! It sounds like a nice product, but beyond that part of the article, I never realized how big of a market there is for incontinence products. Not only that, all of that market-share analysis and stock analysis... I've definitely learned something new today. Link to comment

Dirty Diaper/Maxipad Lover
Yep, P&G sold Attends in 1998 according to the first link. As for the Always Discreet line, the idea makes sense but the Always branding seems like a huge misstep. By only targeting women, P&G has basically give half of their potential consumers to KCWW who've been trying to sell Depend to men and women. Despite the morbid predictions of the article, I don't think SCA will be going anywhere anytime soon. I was wondering how long it would take KCWW to start ramping up advertising against these, and as soon as I got to the bottom of the article I say this link: http://blog.caregiverpartnership.com/2014/08/kimberly-clarks-poise-fires-first-shot.html It looks like KCWW is already ramping up advertising for their Poise brand that'll be directly competing with Always Discreet, my guess is that the new slew of Depend ads is no coincidence either, and that KCWW is taking P&G's new product as a serious threat to their current offerings. It would be nice to see these do well, and I'll admittedly laugh if KCWW rebrands their Poise line as part of the Kotex line to compete with Always Discreet, but I'm definitely skeptical about whether or not these will actually be a success. I think it would have made a lot more sense for P&G to have come up with a product aimed directly at competing with Depend and going after both women and men instead of only women. If Always Discreet are sucessful though and P&G does come up with a line aimed at competing with Depend, KCWW better have a major overhaul of that brand in the works or P&G will just be able to trample them on quality. Angela Bauer
Let us not forget that P&G only sold the North American plant and rights to Attends. In all other markets Attends are still made and distributed by subsidiaries of P&G. 1 Link to comment
Bettypooh
Not too far away so maybe this is their idea of getting their name back in the hat before then, possibly having plans to produce something else in 2018-we can hope! Link to comment
Dirty Diaper/Maxipad Lover
That's a good point Angela, I forgot that they agree not to re-enter the Adult disposable market until 2018 as part of the sale of Attends North America. However, aren't they re-entering the market prematurely by releasing the "Always Discreet" line? They might only be targeting women, but those pull ons look like they'd be categorized as the kind of product they're supposedly not allowed to produce until 2018. Link to comment
Angela Bauer
My guess is that the attorneys representing P&G know what they are doing. Of course they have all of the documents related to the sale of Attends Brand. Link to comment
DailyDi
Probably had an exemption for "feminine hygiene" for Always, and that can easily include incontinence Link to comment
Bettypooh
Based on the actual wording involeved, P&G may not be prohibited from marketing anything other than a "disposable brief" but that's for the Lawyers to hash out Link to comment
Baby Brian
Based on the actual wording involeved, P&G may not be prohibited from marketing anything other than a "disposable brief" but that's for the Lawyers to hash out Any new product made for the incontinence market is good for all of us so long as it doesn't replace the products we like Anything which makes life easier fior those who become Incontinent is good as well- nobody should feel ashamed about their body's loss of function when they didn't want that or cause it. The reality is that if someone found a cure for incontinence there would be almost no adult diaper manufacturing continuing and the prices for whatever remained in prioduction would skyrocket Then there would be an even larger social stigma for those of us who like to wear diapers because it would then be obvious that we do it by choice and not need While I wish the Incontinent could lose their suffering, I don't want to lose my ease of explaining why I wear diapers. I hope Attends finds the market good enough now to venture back into the areas it departed from. More choice for the consumer is always better for the consumer Bettypooh My cure for urge incontinence and a neurogenic obstruction was incontinence via a sphincterotomy. I'm pretty sure the incontinence market is going to be safe for some time to come. Adult diapers are only going to get more prelevant as society is exposed to it more and hopefully overcomes the stigma associated with it. Link to comment

heartwood
The commercial for the underware on the always discreet homepage reminds me of an old pampers commercial. The scens with the sexy hand stretching the leak guard and the blue liquid to represent pee... Makes me think this is a P&G product. http://www.alwaysdiscreet.com/incontinence-underwear/productdetail/maximum Link to comment

attendsdiapers
Awesome looking diaper! I Is it just me, or do these look similar to the ABUniverse Cushies, only in a pull-up?! went to Safeway to buy a package of these the other day as I had a coupon for them, but they did not have them yet. Darkfinn
Just FYI... I work for a courier service that hauls medical supplies for numerous local pharmacies, we got a pallet of these things in yesterday for distribution and boy do they STINK. That pallet was enough to make the whole warehouse smell like a flower shop, and that was through cardboard and shrink wrap. I certainly wouldn't count on them being discreet, as anyone who gets near you would be able to smell what you are wearing. Link to comment
