Mostly I think it comes from out transgendered folks or it might also be folks from across the pond in England to. If anyone with some time can think of all the crazy acronyms and make me a list that would be great. I'll try to search back through and get specifics but can't promise anything. Here's a few. Is it an offical document from the state that recognizes your gender change? Do you have to have surgery to get one? Do all states have to issue them? I am not trans gendered but intolerance (esp within the community) just aggravates me to no end. I believe alot of intolerance is caused from ignorance so I like to educate myself That being said I love your cheerleader pic protection, i think it is super cute Link to comment

You have to live post op in your current gender for 2 years to be able to get a GRC. with that being obtained, you can get everything fully switched over. You also need to convince a panel of 'experts' that post surgery you intend to stay that way *rolls eyes* As far as the UK system goes, I reckon I wont be able to make an application until about 24. I don't know much, but I do know my law. Interesting. I wonder if we have anything like that here across the pond. I would think so but with all the hype we have had over the same sex marriage issue as of late it does make me question. Link to comment

The art of communication is to pass information. Since an acronym / abreviation is usually trade/area/gender/dialect specific, the usage of abreviations/acronyms tend to reduce the audience. Mathematicaly, if one uses enough abreviations/acronyms, no one, expect the presenter / speaker will be able to understand the information - which in itself, fails the basic art of communiction = to communicate. From my experience, I tend NOT to trust /listen to people who insist on using same. It is as if the people are trying to hide specific information. Link to comment

As far as the feds are concerned you bring in proof of reassignment (in our case medical records from surgeon and Psychiatrist) and they change gender on your passport. For social security you just need a certified copy of name change from a court. Drivers licenses vary by state. Think about this for a minute. You have to spend hours with a therapist to get a letter for a doctor to prescribe hormones, spend thousands of dollars out of pocket for hair removal, live and work in your new gender for at least 1 year, get a letter from a Psychiatrist to get a surgeon to perform the surgery (usually cash out of pocket currently $18,000 in CO) and then a panel gets the opportunity to turn you down for the change in your records? This forum, and most ABDLs understand the acronom ABDL, but if I used that within a group of medical personal, ABDL or ABD refers to abdominal. Therefore, ambiquity, error and misinformation exists, and clarity is lost.
