DailyDi Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I've been dealing with extreme urgency the last few days. Maybe a side affect of the antibiotics I am on? Anyway, I get sudden urgent needs to pee, with painful cramps if I try not to wet myself on the spot. 1 1
Crinklz Kat Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Well.... I know they will wreck the digestive tract, but not familiar with them making you pee a lot. 1

Are you having trouble with how you sense things while on the antibiotic vs normal? Is that causing you to hold a larger volume before you feel the need to go, hence getting closer to your maximum functional capacity before you realize you need to go? Or are you getting stronger urges on lower volume? Both angles might need further medical review. 1

Usually, that kind of urgency is a sign you need to start taking antibiotics, not because of them. Have you considered it might be a UTI? If the antibiotics you're already on aren't very effective towards urinary infections, you could still get a strain that's resistant to it. You could always load up on the cranberry just to be on the safe side. Either that, or could you be dehydrated right now? More concentrated urine is well known to cause greater problems with those who already have minor bladder problems to start with. More fluids in general are usually a good thing and certainly can't hurt. 1
Dubious Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Americans consume antibiotics like candy, and put it in meat. CDC: About 30% of all antibiotics prescribed in U.S. are either unnecessary or suboptimal 1 2
DailyDi Posted October 3 Author Posted October 3 All I know is I peed three times overnight, and that's unusual for me.

Could be the bladder is irritated from strong concentration and you need to be drinking more liquids. Could be a sign of a UTI not handled by the antibiotic you are on. Could be something else. If cloudy urine, I’d suspect the UTI and needing to get into a doctor before it becomes a kidney infection or worse. Grant it with the main issues you were dealing with it might not be a UTI, but if it is, those can quickly turn into worse issues.
DailyDi Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Had a better night. Only peed twice overnight and no urgency. I'm off the antibiotic now, so I still think there might have been a connection.
rusty pins Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Your still lucky when you compare yourself to me since I get up 6 times every night to pee.
