Permanently Pampered Posted Tuesday at 02:17 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:17 PM I've started talking to a therapist, we talk about once every 3 weeks. I've had 2 appointments. We talk about what is happening in my life but that is it. No real depth or introspection. At least that is what I assume would happen when talking with a therapist. I'm also surprised she has not talked about my depression symptoms even though I specifically mentioned a couple recent events. I'm not sure if I'll continue. I don't mind chatting and she is nice but I'm not feeling like this is going to go anywhere. I feel like its going to be the same thing next time. A. I'm not sure this person is the right therapist or have I given it enough time? B. Being asexual, I doubt therapy will ever get me any closer to having a relationship. C. I know I am the problem, not others around me. I am the change that needs to happen. Even though I've mentioned this I don't think she is focused towards more than how my week was. Not sure if I'll keep it up but curious to hear from others. 1
CptKirk Posted yesterday at 06:13 AM Posted yesterday at 06:13 AM My experience with therapists is I felt they were listening from the get go, 2nd appt at the latests....I think I'd be frank, and tell her what ou are expecting to get out of therapy, as she may not know what it is your seeking.....if you do that and STILL feel ignored, 100% change!
