I've been on a cloth-themed binge this week after I saw this adorable Pikachu design diaper cover. I've been waiting for more supplies to come in, namely proper inserts - which haven't arrived yet. In the meantime, I've been stuffing it with layers of those Gerber brand baby cloth prefold diapers you can get at Walmart. I think I understand the concept of how cloth diapers work (i.e. wicking) and their struggle against floods. I'm not 24/7, but I've been wearing them the past couple nights and using them for testing purposes. The first night I used 2 layers of the Gerber prefolds (2 front, 1 back) and threw in some microfiber cloths in the front and back for more feeling than anything else. I had lots and lots to drink before bed, and did a pretty good job relaxing and wetting a little at a time throughout the night. In the morning, they had leaked and the bed was totally soaked (hooray for waterproof mattress covers!), bummer - but not surprised. The second night (last night), I skipped the microfiber, did 3 prefolds in the front, two in the back, and also added a boys goodnites in there (sides ripped off) for an added boost. I ended up just sticking with regular fluid intake throughout the day, and didn't end up wetting at all in the night. In the morning, I slowly emptied my bladder in it, and it held up well for a few hours. At one point, I could tell that the inside was pretty wet all the way through, and when I went to change, a very small wicking leak had started to form on the inner crotch right leg hole that made a small wet spot on the onesie I had on (my first one ever!). So I'm two nights in, and I don't want to give up on them - they're so fluffy and plush - very comfortable to be in. I'm a long-time disposables boy, so I'm new to this. I haven't had a messy one yet, but I do plan on it. Long story short, does anyone have any tips and tricks, helpful hints?

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a fun time and staying safe out there these days. Only recently jumped onto Daily Diapers to broaden the social horizons (hopefully). I'm a laid back, carefree type of person that likes trying new things. Been doing alternative lifestyles for a few years now (around six), social functions (when they still happened), and travelled a bit thanks to my job. I like gaming (albeit a bit picky about which games), books, DIY type projects, and when I was able to I liked going hiking, mountain biking, camping, and anything else that just helped me get away from the hustle and bustle. Been to seven countries outside the continental US, bit of military, bit of construction (low voltage electrician), and a lot of IT work. In 2009 ,blessed by a near sighted tailgater on her cell, my return to diapers had started. Still if I give much thought to it, i relive the whole thing. the reality of it took a few weeks to bloom. Technically I had a “beer can fracture “ of the L4 vertebrae , ruptured the L4,L5 and the S1 disc’s. The L4 break nicked the spinal cord sheath causing fluid leakage from the cord.(this is the most painful of all of the injuries). also torn rotator cuff along with multiple soft tissue injuries and yes fractured foot. sometimes if I over do life I’ll even lose feeling starting near the groin and as the swelling increases progressing lower. So to lighten things back up. Yes that was a very dark time , as I woke up in the ER (briefly) then again in ICU 9 days later as they were starting to move me to a private room, I realized that my diaper was being changed. I was really shocked by the whole thing. my car was only a year old, the day before It had just turned 10,000 miles on the odometer ,it wasn’t anything special. I picked it off the lot and paid it off six months later. All the bells and whistles even dealer added cruise control. i had developed a nasty infection from the catheter while I was out, that’s why I had been diapered they said. I thought later that one of the less experienced nurses had changed out the Catheter and did some damage by not deflating it fully before removing it. hospital diapers are the cheapest thinnest available that they charge 150.00 each for. after a few days and multiple changes, my rash blistered ,yet again more inexperience. most of my caregivers were older, a few, male nurses mid to late twenties. But the one angel in the crowd, full breasted ,early twenties, maybe even late teens. i was so happy when she took over my care, some how the diapers got thicker, the changes more often and the rash faded. i had made it to the three week mark, they were letting me go home, ha . Had to have a ride , my car had been towed after being totaled. after waiting around most of the day, I found out that the staff had drawn straws, someone “volunteered” to drive me home. as I’m waiting by the exit , my cute little angel showed up behind me, holding her 8 month old and toting a diaper bag. guess that explains the figure and the mothering I received. She told me that her and her husband would be driving me home as a blue grey minivan pulled up. the hospital had set me up with lots of help until I was able to move around better. i wish I could have thanked my angel better, she clued me into a few web sites to buy supplies ,a few of them ABDL sites. i never saw her or her little family again, I hope life has been good to them ,they were amazing helping as they did. maybe if they read this someday and recognize my story they will know how much they helped and how much I appreciated it. so I spent the next three years between the neurologist ,the neuro surgeon and physical therapy. when I hit the one year mark, both doctors told me how surprised they were that I hadn’t landed in a wheel chair permanately. Oh! And the diapers, at first they really bothered me, after awhile I realized that we all start out in them, most of us will end up in them, a few of us lucky ones have to wear them all the time. just one last note, I joined this site a few years ago, not long after another member suggested I go to the newbie nursery and introduce myself. so this is/was part of my life the good and otherwise , this really happened to me. I couldn’t have written it if it didn’t . lastly thank god that I’m still here, upright and mobile, oh! Hi, It sems my love of diapers started out as a love of plastic pants. Bed wetting was a problem for me until just prior to puberty and for some reason I loved plastic pants but had little time for diapers. I remember being caught wearing plastic pants in the bathroom of an elderly lady my folks hired to babysit me when I was around 4. There was something that I liked about the feel of plastic on my skin. My parents weren't condemning concerning my bed wetting and I would suggest to my mother that plastic pants might help although she said she didn't see how they would help without a diaper to soak up the liquid. Once I entered puberty I found a whole new use for plastic pants and used to take them from clothes lines around our small town. They proved to be a powerful attraction for me when I would see them and I would begin plotting how I could take them without being caught. This behavior subsided in my late teens and it has been replaced with the occasional purchase and later regret of that action throughout my adult life. About 4 years ago I began experiencing incontinence due to a spinal injury and some of the medication used to manage pain and fibromyalgia. To deal with this I began using disposable diapers and later tried cloth contour diapers with plastic pants. Currently I'm using almost exclusively cloth contour diapers with terry towels for night time booster pads and various brands and types of waterproof diaper covers. Mom was right, without an absorbent medium plastic pants aren't much help but after much trial and error I've found an effective system for managing my incontinence and keeping my bedding dry. I've been on SSDI for several years now and since I don't leave my house very often I only use disposable diapers (Abena M-4's) when I'm out which keeps my cost down. The initial cause of my attraction to plastic pants has always escaped me but I'm almost as attracted to diapers now as I am to plastic pants. It does make me a bit sad that I didn't feel this way about diapers when my mother was trying to deal with my bed wetting though as it would have saved her a lot of work washing bedding.

I’ve been lurking on diaper forums now for a long while, and I decided to start a profile to join in on the conversation. I’m a (soon to be) graduate student in NC, I like to play guitar and drums, and I enjoy wearing diapers for their convenience and comfort whenever I’m alone or can get away with it. I’m not really into AB too much, although I always appreciate a cute girl in a puffy diaper. I spend the summer alone and tried diapers for the first time, and I’ve been hooked ever since! Now, I don’t get to wear often because I live with people who don’t know about my habbit, so I wear at work where I’m on my feet with limited bathroom breaks for 10+ hours at a time sometimes.
