  1. Not that you'd be hoping for this, but maybe a change in his condition will change the momentum in this tug-of-war? IE, wait a respectful couple or few days, and then say, "There's been a change... listen, I want to talk about this again." Having been in similar shoes, my advice, which I know you already have thought of, is this: better to go while he's still firing on some of his cylinders. I've watched people rush to bedsides for what is essentially, at that point, a mildly premature viewing, rather than a visit. Visits are better. Goodspeed, sir.
  2. I have at least a dozen onesies, but I never thought to run in one. Interesting thought. I use the for waistband security when I'm at work or doing work while hanging out with friends - we've done a lot of DYI projects together. Which is how a couple of them know I wear diapers... emergency DIY situations called, and I didn't have a onesie on. It went like this: I wore diapers to bed for a longer period than I've worn them fulltime, so about 8 years or so. I would wake up when I needed to pee, for at least the first two or three years, wee, and then fall back to sleep when I was done. Then, I started waking up, starting to wee, and then falling asleep before I was done. But I still woke up every time. Then, at some point, I had a lot to drink one night, and I woke up wet, with no recollection of it happening... but I must have woken up. Right? Then, I went weeks either being dry overnight, or waking up every time I wet. And then, "it" happened again - I woke up wet, with no memory of agreeing to it. Then I went days or weeks either waking up entirely dry, or, waking up to wee. And then it happened again. This time, when I was really tired (I'm speculating here, my memory is not that good), but not after a night of red wine or IPA's. And then it happened again, this time, sooner. And then I had a couple of disasters - I'm fast-forwarding a bit, but I soaked a bed at a rented cottage and had to laundry at 4 AM, trying not to wake up kids or sleeping friends, and then early this year, I soaked the bed at my buddy's place - peed through, around, or over my diaper, both time, and both times, beer was involved. Now, I wear terry-lined plastic pants over my diaper, if I'm not sleeping in a bed I own. But, rest assured, I still wake up either dry, or I wake up needing to pee, a couple to a few times a week. The rains come and go. But at least a couple of nights a week, I wake up in the morning, in a wet diaper, with no memory of how it got that way, and alcohol is no longer a prerequisite for that to happen. But, it ups the odds considerably. So maybe take up drinking...? Lol.
  3. You folks are getting close to what we pay here - it's about $2.62 CAD a litre, which works out to about $7 USD per gallon at the current exchange rate. Diesel was less expensive than gasoline in Canada for years, and then it moved in lockstep with gasoline for another good stretch, at around $1.90 - $2.10 per litre, or about $5 USD per gallon. I had a diesel car a number of years ago, and I remember buying it for $1 a litre, or about $2.75 a gallon, and then the car went 47 miles per gallon. Good times.
  4. I do like that saying: If you're lucky enough, it all begins, and ends, in diapers. I'd probably add, with diapers in the middle part, as well...
  5. Interesting. I've never heard of them. Ask them not to forget about Canada!
  6. This is very well articulated, and 100% true. My gut on this conundrum, not that you've asked for it, is to beg forgiveness and make it up to her later, if you really feel like the circumstances are not going to wait for best laid plans of mice and men. I lost a parent not that long ago, and I have another one hanging on by fingernails. My relationship with the former was pretty good, while my history with the latter, belies the detente we have achieved lately. You have a lifetime to make it up to her, whereas you may never be able to make it up to you, if you don't put the (-30-) at the end of this story, regardless of what your dad or anyone else may make of it. It's the right thing to do. My thought is to drive down - sounds like an interesting trip, watch the 'roos - and tell your wife that you'll pick her up at the airport, on a moment's notice, if she can somehow break free. IE, you have to go, and you want her to come to, but you understand if she can't, and you'll facilitate her coming, in any way you can, but, again, you have to go. This is not a vacation. Plus, you have complete autonomy, and no obligation to subject yourself to uncomfortable circumstances for a second longer than you're willing to put up with. Everybody wins.
  7. Wow, ancient thread here. Not the oldest I've seen, but impressive. I was going to chime in about my desire to have a backyard private enough for diapered yard work during the daylight hours, however satellite surveillance has never been on my radar, and this is after six additional years of technological developments. Gates' idea has been eclipsed by Musk's implementation. But I don't think I'm that interesting, regardless of what I'm wearing. We live in a bit of a countrified setting, which means more space between the houses, but also, a dearth of fences; people rely instead on the lack of proximity, and on hedges and trees, for privacy. It works pretty well - I have no qualms about working around my pool or my yard, in a big diaper, under shorts or whatever. But in terms of hanging out in just a diaper, I've only ever done that after dark, usually on errands rather than just for the sake of doing it. I've said to my wife that I wouldn't mind if our next house was smaller, but had a more private yard, and she concurs with that, although probably not for the same reasons... I'd enjoy being able to have the sun on my diaper, and a beer in my hand, or whatever. And if someone wants to spend the GDP of a small country, to zoom in on me, from space, maybe I should be flattered. Drones might be the more logical threat, these days, although the only ones I've ever noticed around my neighbourhood have been operated on behalf of real estate agents. But I guess it's the drone you don't see, that you should most fear. But again, I'm boring, even in plastic underpants. As to why I'd want to be outside in a diaper, that's harder to answer. It would just feel affirming, I guess? Or maybe nostalgic? Diapers for me weren't just "underwear", growing up - they were pajamas, and casualwear, I guess - my parents have pictures of me in a diaper unwrapping presents in front of the Christmas tree, and I'd often spend Saturday and Sunday mornings watching Looney Tunes on the couch, under a blanket, in a diaper. Actual outdoor wearing of one, by itself, as a kid, I don't recall - it probably happened at the cottage, or when we camped, but I have no concrete memories to point to. I have zero interest in doing it anywhere remotely public, but given a safe space, it's something I want to have as an option. That might be illogical, but then again, my wearing diapers fulltime is also, let's face it, illogical.
  8. Hi, @diaperedtransgirl - I just stumbled upon this thread. It has been interesting following your journey so far; it definitely reminds me of my early days, in some respects, although I didn't have the option of wearing skirts - I do see your point with that, as the less snug sort would tend to drape away from the body. But I don't have the legs for it. But I have a daughter who used to only want to wear skirts over pull-ups, back when she was in them; she complained that pants or shorts left her with a "puffy bum". I would echo much of what @oznl has had to say on this thread already; I'm about half a year behind him, in this journey (7.5 years for me), and I have found my experiences so far to have been on a similar trajectory. I can still hold it if I have to, but it gets uncomfortable after a much shorter period of time than it used to, and, I absolutely have to sleep in diapers now, as letting myself wet in bed for three quarters of a decade seems to have erased my sleep training, in that regard. Your 2.5 diapers per day is not far off of my cadence; I typically use two to three a day, depending on what I have on my calendar, with an average over the years, that works out to about 2.25. I was wondering, when I started reading your entries, when you'd move away from pull-ups, and it didn't take you long. Even the best ones are not as good as a mediocre "real" diaper. I'd say that your leakage rate is way, way above mine - I only leak maybe once a week, or less, and those are generally events that don't require much aftercare. Two suggestions I would have are to try different products - even good ones fit differently on different people - and, if you're not already doing this religiously, to wee more often. Diapers contend better with frequent sprinkles than with infrequent deluges. I recall, early on in my "career", that I would sometimes start concentrating on something work-related, or even on driving, and then I would forget to wee for a while, resulting in a bit more of a flood, which tended to ramp up the likelihood of a leak. I remember, as well, trying to get used to using them in the car, with friends, in bed with my wife, even on a plane or at a wedding or whatever. It does take a while to get used to going when you need to, regardless of the circumstances. One area where I may be able to learn from you, would be in the gym department. Perhaps my only major regret on this journey, has been parting ways with going to the gym regularly. I used to run a couple of times a week, lift weights, and teach martial arts classes at my local gym, but after I started wearing diapers fulltime, I ran into issues with feeling self-conscious, first of all, about my diaper being either visible, or at least tactilely discernable (martial arts), and, second, I never really found a good one to run in - they all kind of chaff, under heavy exertion. I've even considered joining another gym, where I'd be more anonymous, and then just being "diaper guy", if anyone noticed anything, whereas at my regular spot, a lot of people know me, so if I started exhibiting "Huggies butt", it would be talked about. How have you done it, so far, and how have you found it? Particularly in women's clothing. Overall, welcome to the 24/7 fold - it's an illogical but interesting path-less-taken, to find yourself on. But you're not alone!
  9. I've never stayed in a hospital since I've been back in diapers, although statistically, at some point, my luck will run out on that. Or, I will luck out completely, and not have to pass GO, on my way to the great beyond. But barring that eventuality, odds are that at some point, I'll occupy a bed on the government's dime (Canada...). My medical experiences so far have been pretty easygoing - nobody really speaks of them, if they come onto the radar. But I get that it's different if they think they have to manage it. I'd probably say, "You don't want me sleeping in your bed, not wearing one, trust me..." As long as I am in a position to manage it myself, it's my business what my underpants are made of; I suppose if I have to rely on them to assist me, then they can express their opinions, but again, it's going to be a lot less work if I can wear the decent ones I prefer, versus diapers from the palliative care ward that were designed for people whose life expectancy is measured in minutes.
  10. I would say that after years of being a bedwetter, and wearing diapers to bed, there have been, remarkably, no "code browns", but there have been a couple of insurrection attempts that could have led to one. I've had dreams on a couple of occasions, that correlated, I determined once I woke up, to having an upset tummy, and the dreams typically were some version of the following: Angel on my subconscious shoulder: Goodness, I'm feeling some real pressure in the solid waste department... I guess I should get up and deal with that. Devil on the other shoulder: But wait! Correct me if I'm wrong - aren't we wearing a diaper? Angel: We are... but we don't do that in our diapers. Devil: So you really want to get up out of this warm bed and go to the cold bathroom, when you just peed yourself, and everything is fine? Angel: Well... you have a point.... Maybe it's just gas... Subconscious automated warning system: Warning.... Terrain.... Pull Up! Warning.... Terrain.... Pull up! My theory on this is that years of lackluster discipline in the #1 department, can give the team in the #2 department ideas. However, it's far from a waterslide to oblivion.
  11. I've travelled with diapers in my bags through dozens and dozens of airports, predominantly in carryon bags, although aside from the "waiting for your luggage, which may or may not have accompanied you" part, I prefer to put diapers in checked bags, because if they need to eviscerate the bag, to satisfy their curiosity, it happens in the basement of the airport, rather than on a table in front of you, with 30 people standing around. My understanding of the training that TSA X-ray technicians undergo - and I stand to be corrected by anyone here with firsthand knowledge, mine is only secondhand - is that they can read scans like a jeweler can read a diamond through a loupe. They get tested periodically, both in terms of certification, and also with random tests while working. So, yeah, they know those are diapers, and not diapers stuffed with contraband, or folded shirts, or anything else. And they don't care what you have with you, as long as it's not illegal, and it doesn't endanger the aircraft, nor violate their requirements with respect to maximum quantities of liquids, etc. Even when my main bag is going into the luggage hold, I always have at least one diaper in my laptop bag, and I've never been asked about it. The diaper I'm wearing when I go through the people scanner, is a different story. Those experiences run the gamut from zero interaction on the topic, to molestation coupled with indecent exposure.
  12. @FretaBWet is correct, although it would be awesome if someone sold Kevlar diaper covers. Maybe for military use? I've been referring to them as "Kevlar" because they are metaphorically bulletproof, at least so far. @oznl had suggested them to me years ago, and I think Freta & her wife probably mentioned them as well, pointing out the frequent failure modes experienced by those who sleep solely in disposables. I had, for years, been extraordinarily fortunate in my experiences sleeping in disposables; for a long time, I didn't think I was "legitimately" sleep-wetting, because the habit of rolling over onto my back whenever the rains came, was engrained in me to the point that I assumed I was still waking up to do it, even if I had no recollection of doing so. I had experienced a few inconveniences in my day, luckily always while sleeping in beds I owned, where maybe a folded waistband wicked into the sheets, or there was a spot of leakage. I knew cloth diapers were the most bulletproof option, but I didn't find them convenient, a lot of the time, because of the aftercare they entailed, which frequently ran up against my travel schedule. I hated leaving diapers in the laundry cycle that other people would have to deal with, but at the same time, a used cloth diaper waits for no man. But, as I drifted further down the road of resolute sleep-wetting, the body count started to pile up; the first shot over the bow, was when I soaked the bed at a rented cottage with some friends, and had to do laundry at 4 AM, while trying not to wake up the kids, or anyone else. Thankfully, I was in my own bed, so my wife was not among the injured. At that point, I decided to wear plastic pants whenever I had plans to imbibe heroically, and not sleep at home. But then, the worst of all possible outcomes ensued - I was staying over at a good friend's house, and my diaper leaked catastrophically, and I basically had to cop to what happened, and ask him if I could use his laundry equipment, to clean up the mess. At least they had a mattress protector on, a holdover from a time when his kids had worn pull-ups, but still, the embarrassment radiation burns were searing. The imitable Mr. Oznl again suggested the lined plastic pants, and this time, I didn't think twice. They have since saved my bacon a couple of times, and even when they weren't necessary, I still have a theory that they prevented leaks, by their very presence. I have a range of pry bars for work like flooring repairs or deck demolitions, that run from surgical and precise, and measured in centimetres, to your standard tools, all the way up to a 6-foot bar that could be used by the fire department, to open smashed cars. I don't need to use that one very often, but my theory is that the fact that it is with me, encourages materials to relent to lesser attempts at motivation. So it goes with the Kevlar plastic pants - leaks just don't bother trying. They know they can't win.
  13. I don't have a lot of regrets about going back into diapers fulltime, but one of them is the gym - I used to be a regular, I taught marshal arts classes, did weights, ran - I was there 3 - 5 times a week. I experimented with a number of diaper products at the gym, and I found that slim, cloth-backed ones like Tena ProSkin's or Prevail's would work for weights or marshal arts, but for actual running, trying to do 5 or 8 miles, they would eventually start to irritate me. So I kind of broke up with the gym, and I am paying a price for that, in terms of moving from L to XL diapers. I didn't do a lot in the changeroom, except to stash my bag in there - I wasn't one of the people who would stand around naked, and talk about their plans for the weekend, even when I wasn't wearing diapers, so that aspect wasn't a big adjustment. The only exception was if I had somewhere to go, other than home, after my workout - then, I'd have to change in one of the washroom stalls, which is never ideal, but I could make it work. Part of me wants to find a new gym, where I am unknown, and then I could just go about my business quietly, the anonymous guy with the slightly puffy shorts on. Even in a completely anonymous situation, I'm not the type who could just stride through a changeroom, nonchalantly wearing an Active Air. Let alone a Critter Caboose.
  14. The only person who sees my diapers with any consistency is my wife; I usually sleep in just a diaper and a t-shirt. My (older) kids have seen my diapers incidentally, if they come walking into our bedroom when I'm getting dressed or whatever, but I stay clothed around the house, unless they aren't home, in which case I might go down to the kitchen for a drink or something, in just my sleeping garb. I have a couple of friends who have seen "something" once or twice, like a waistband exposure. I have been in a pull-up in front of a doctor before, and once, I was left standing briefly in a medical imaging waiting area, in a semi-transparent disposable gown, over a diaper - they quickly offered me a second gown, because my diaper - thankfully a white one - was basically glowing under the overhead lights. I grew up in white diapers, with some of them having waistband or landing zone prints, in the latter part of my childhood. The fully-printed diapers that came out after I outgrew needing them, were the ones that I longed for, but could not get easy access to, and I couldn't really fit in them, anyway. So when I discovered that ABDL diapers existed, I started out buying mostly printed ones, because of the novelty of wearing "baby diapers" that I could actually fit in, and that worked. I've been in diapers 24/7 for coming up on 8 years now, and the novelty factor has largely worn off; I still have a soft spot for printed diapers, but my wife doesn't care what they look like, and I'm way more about function than form, now, and also about budgeting. So, lately I've been about 70/30 white to printed. The only colour that will raise her eyebrows is anything that is predominantly pink, so very pink diapers do leave me feeling a bit self-conscious. If I'm travelling, or when I go into work (I often work from home), I just go with white ones, on the off chance that there is a security issue, or a wardrobe malfunction. White diapers raise fewer questions than ones emblazoned with winged unicorns.
  15. And go in my pants, I did - I can report that the Kevlar, terry-lined plastic pants were worn, but saw no fire, however the Mega Inspire+ I was in, had its work cut out for it. I don't know what happened, other than beer, but apparently I was well-hydrated, because it was soaked. Way more than is usual for my overnight output. I had planned to just stay in it for the first half of the day, until getting changed, once I was at home, for the guests we have coming later. But when I pulled my jeans on over it, it looked like I had a pillow jammed down the front of my pants, and I had a very noticeable "butt bulge" that was unmistakably from a diaper. As much as my friends that I was staying with obviously knew that somewhere under my outerwear, there were tabs and absorbent padding, I didn't feel like being that up front about it. I'd changed into the Inspire in the latter part of the evening, thinking we were almost winding down, and the Active Air I was in was getting towards the redline, anyway. But then we'd changed venues within his house, and more beer came out, and for some reason, it seemed like a great idea to not go to bed until 3 AM. But at that point, my diaper had barely been engaged, so i didn't feel like I was being flamboyant. In the morning, after the monsoon had evidently come to pass, I felt like I might as well have walked into their kitchen in just the diaper. That getup also wasn't going to work, in front of my in-laws, when I got home. Luckily, I'd brought an extra BeDry with me, the regular version, so I put that on, before joining them for coffee. At no point did my "Huggies" come into the conversation, so I think he's gotten that out of his system. I'll have to figure out, as I get closer to the appointed hour when guests start to arrive, whether I want to stay in that BeDry, and go change myself at some juncture in the evening, after I've been filling it with processed wine, for a while, or if I want to start fresh, right before things kick off, even if my outgoing diaper might have some life left to live. Such are the considerations of the diapered host. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
