  1. To answer your question, I have made use of this product a while ago. It does work quite well but it can be uncomfortable when you are sitting for a long tine. Get a sample and try them out yourself! Cheers, UKNappyman
  2. Just a quick note regarding the Cranberry Juice issue! I personally cannot stand the taste of it at all but I know just how well it works to keep your Urine a very unwelcoming place for bacteria to live in. To get the best of both worlds I simply take a Cranberry Capsule daily. You do not need to drink the juice and you still get all of the advantages! Stay well, UKNappyman
  3. The thing about Foley a Cath is that you can very easily get an Infection, especially when you are draining it in to a Diaper or something like this. I know from using caths for quite a number of years the problems they can and do cause. By all means give it a try but be Very Clean With Everything you Touch! Play safe, UKnappyman
  4. Welcome to the Forum aftershocks_baby Enjoy looking about and if you are unsure of something, just ask! Best regards, UKnappyman
  5. Hi again Miss Marcia I can totally relate to the Anaphylactic Shock aspect of things! I once had this happen to me after I had a bowl of cereal (Kellogs Fruit & Fibre) it turns out that I am allergic to Banana's I managed to get to A&E gave my name and then passed out not able to breath I woke up a few hours later and got all the information Anyway I would not personally be silly enough to leave an open catheter to drain into anything other than a "Sterile" collection device or by using a Valve that you are able to drain on a timed basis into a toilet. Doing otherwise does simulate incontinence but as we know that you will cause yourself problems. I am unlucky enough to be incontinent anyway so I do not have to simulate anything! Although when I was a lot younger (late teens) I was interested in Nappies and would been stupid enough to try it then. I guess that experiences have made me much 'wiser' now? I remember I was on holiday to Florida in 2005 and and I became unwell on holiday and I needed to go back to using a catheter but I was unable to purchase any gels that offer any numbing from the medical supply shop I went to only a plain lubricant I still managed to insert the catheter without too much pain. I think that people do sometimes exaggerate how sore it is, but then they may be using to large a catheter or have a very low pain threshold! I know I can tolerate a lot of pain, I once had a Root canal done without any local anaesthetic! my dentist was a little shocked to say the least! Anyway have a good weekend and stay out of the Snow! Cheers, UKNappyman
  6. Hi there Miss Marcia & everyone else, Your guide to self catheterization is very good and detailed in many different ways but I have a question for you! I was Catheterised for about a total of 3 years, this was a combination of Urethral and 'Suprapubic' (Through an incision in my abdomen) and the catheter was changed a 2 - 3 month intervals. The type of material the Catheter was made of was Latex a 16Ch (Infact it was made by a company called Bard and it was a Bio-cath model) I would unfortunatley get UTI's (Urinary Tract Infections) despite very sterile changing procedures by nursing staff a few times a year. For the past 5 years I have happily returned to using Nappies (Diapers) instead of Catheters - I would only use a catheter if I really needed to! Be careful using a Catheter as any infections can be hell on your system! - I know I have been in hospital for 3 weeks getting over a nasty one once! Stay well, UKNappyman
  7. I used the excuse (but truth as well to a degree!) that I had a bowl of Kelloggs 'Frit & Fibre' ceral - this contains dried Banana in it! I got the feeling that the doctors etc did not really care how it happened, they were more interested in making me better! UKNappyman
  8. I have never tried them again in any form! The allergy tests that you get done do not generally include this particular fruit, generally they test for nut allergies etc. I have to guess that I am most definitely allergic to Banana's full stop. The crazy thing is that as a kid I used to really love eating Banana's, allergies are weird as they can start all of a sudden for no reason! At least this is what I was told by a Hospital Consultant Stay cool, UKNappyman - it is currently only 34F outside
  9. I have just a small comment to make about the one and only time I tried the 'Banana up my Tailpipe' I unfortunatley had a very Adverse reaction to the Banana and went into 'anaphylactic shock' I needed to get to the Casualty (ER) immediately for assistance. If I had not gotten there when I did I would have Died! A very scary experience indeed! I think that it would have been a rather enjoyable experience without the added drama! Stay wet, UKNappyman
  10. Just my two pence worth on this topic! I have previously had both and Indwelling urinary catheter and also a Suprapubic one. Regardless of how it was inserted I always developed a UTI. This includes the time I had my second Suprapubic catheter put in during a 'Surgical' procedure in an Operating theatre! So it is safe to say that it was definitely 'Sterile'! I finally gave up on the whole catheter option and am quite happily using Nappies (Diapers) for over 2 years now without a single Infection! This is very interesting as I have no longer got a 'Normal' Immune system as this has been reduced to almost zero by medication I now take! I think that the risks of getting a UTI from Nappies (Diapers) is very low for men and a little higher for women as their urinary tract is do much shorter. But I am not a doctor! Best wishes, UKNappyman
