24/7 startups, and unexpected pitfalls?
superabsorbantpolymer replied to Little Sherri's topic in Diaper Lovers
That's awesome, your friends are great sports and it sounds like they love you diapers and all. Idk if you realize but your accounts are inspiring for those of us deeper in the diaper closet to throw caution to the wind and enjoy life. People really don't care if you wear diapers. It's just a thing, that all the people around you are mostly aware of. Sherri wears diapers, Dave has a bad back, but you're all getting on just fine. At this point, you may as well mention why you were wearing the wrong attire (leaks happen). You might have to ask Dave for a spare pair of shorts one of these overnight stays in the future. Maybe you could leave some clothes there just in case, to prevent such a situation. Out of curiosity how far did the shorts ride down? I've had some catastrophic slippage in plastic backed diapers and athleisure attire. It seems nike and Lululemon didn't do much beta testing with the giant plastic underwear demographic. -

Take a look under the sheets and see if they've added any bed wetter protection to the mattress in case your huggies leak 😜 Over the last few months it seems you've broken through a whole new level of social lock in. A detente on your 7+ year dance of obscuring and hiding (if I had to guess given my own tendencies, from a sense of shame and guilt ingrained around living this lifestyle). I'm a much earlier on than you in terms of discussing my underwear with non abdls in my life. It must feel liberating, you can chuck your diaper in their trash without feeling the need to hide it. You can make noise when you change and not be paranoid. You don't have to worry about your outfit revealing your secret (although it's obviously good taste to be discreet about ones underwear in general, there's zero reason for you to ever feel any anxiety around your diapers except when it's too full and you need to change. That's awesome! -
Thanks for sharing! Are you just planning on doing the anal surgery or also the transurethral resection of bladder neck / prostate / external urinary sphincter? Are you already 24/7?

I understand your hesitation, but I don't think it would be gratuitous to check in with her more. Her comments suggest she has opinions on e.g. changing frequency, but if the only time that comes up is in arguments then she might not want to go there in case in sparks one. Of course it's your relationship, so you know best. -

I'll also add, even with living alone and sitting on bedwetting mats to protect my furniture (i.e. not caring if I leak), I still go through 3-4 bedry per day. I drink a lot of tea and water. But even if I cut back I don't think I would be able to make it though the day with just 1.5! (Maybe in a hot climate, but last I checked you were in balmy Canada 😜 ). My diaper would leak after 8 hours max. By using one or two more diapers a day you'll kill two birds with one stone: less bulk/smell and more room in your basement. Happy wife, happy life and all 😊. It's great to hear how casual y'all have become. Idk if you want to, but maybe you can involve her in your regimen a bit more. Like getting her input on changing frequency etc in a calm discussion instead of when y'all are in a disagreement over storage space. That disarms her using it against you in an argument, but it's also generally a good thing to do given she is affected by them too in different ways. She know you need them and accept them, I think it would be nice for you to show her that you are open to constructive feedback and considering her when managing your incontinence. -

Yeah, I agree, the baby diaper manufacturers have the patents and tech, but a shrinking customer base (birth rate decline). It seems their options are to introduce larger baby diapers and hope consumers keep their kids in diapers longer or repurpose some of their capabilities to serve the adult market. If proctor and Gamble used their patents for cellular wicking diaper cores on adult diapers they could make a best seller. The bar is so low for adult diapers outside of specialty abdl manufacturers. I think we are getting there slowly. Kimberly clark seems to be leading the charge. ABDL might be small but we are a free source of market research. We care deeply about diapers and are willing to try every new product and share our experiences. I like to think they are paying attention, even if unintentionally. I'm sure their market analysts are using AI to process all chatter about their products, so they will pick up our communities opinions across reddit, x, etc. Turns out most of the people talking about diapers online fit somewhere in the abdl umbrella. I'm sure abdl comes up in meetings when discussing market reaction. They might make a conscious decision not to serve the abdl market, but the data we are providing is very useful. Babies and people with dementia don't do a good job at providing product feedback.

Her comment about how you don't change often is worth paying attention to in my opinion. You've mentioned how economical you are with diapers (I also enjoy optimizing things). But even high quality diapers start to smell and are not discreet. Women have a stronger sense of smell, and as her husband you are an extension of her. Your fashion/appearance etc are a reflection of her skills as a wife. (Not saying all relationships do or should work that way, but it is how a lot of people see things, and probably something that plays in her mind). From your many posts here, she does sound like a great sport. Diapers are a lot and she has been very gracious in accepting it all (as you have already acknowledged). I think it would be wise to err on the side of changing more frequently, even at the expense of suboptimal diapereconomics. She would probably rather you use a couple more diapers per day versus 12+ hours of stale pee in your pants. Now that she has acknowledged that you need them and diapers are here to stay it could be worth having the conversation, I'm not sure if you do already, but like asking her if you smell or if it's very obvious when you have a full diaper and she's uncomfortable? Something that's helped me is remembering "diaper are made to throw away". I want to push every diaper to the limits, but part of maintaining social continence is changing before the diaper is close to failure. I live alone and relish in wearing until I leak, but when I am around others I am self conscious of smelling and having bulk so change a lot more frequently. Idk, just some thoughts. Thanks as always for sharing I love reading your diaper diary. -
Fashioning a holey-foley/Stent hybrid
superabsorbantpolymer replied to clockwork_red's topic in Incontinent-Desires
I have seen the video you referenced, I didn't fully understand how his setup works so I'd be interested in learning more. What I have tried is making a stent by cutting a foley about 10cm from the end, and sewing fishing line into the stent as a retrieval line. I string the fishing line on the sewing needle then sterilize the scissors and needle/line by boiling them. I assemble everything in the sterile field during insertion (usual foley insertion with gloves, sterile pad/covers, idoine etc). I feed the sewing needle with the line attached through the other part of the cut foley and pull both cut pieces together to hold them as one. I can then insert the stent like a normal foley. Once I feel it in my bladder and urine is draining I cut the needle off the line and slowly pull the catheter out. The short cut stent part stays in me with the line coming out of my urethra. I've had mixed success. I have irritated my urethra and had pain and blood. But other times (depending on the length and insertion going correctly) it can be very comfortable. Usually it will stay in for up to a day. But at some point it migrates into my bladder or otherwise obstructs the flow and my bladder expels so much urine that the catheter stent comes out of my penis. I am very diligent about maintaining sterility because this is VERY risky play. I, like others, have what ever brain disorder it is that makes incontinence seem like the normal way my body should be, so I engage in this play knowing I am putting myself in danger. I fully expect I will have to make a trip to the emergency room at some point as a consequence of this. I am considering stopping while I am ahead but it is so alluring. -
Good luck with the assessment. Re: testicular pain. I've had issues with testicular torsion (and surgery) as well as epididymitis. What helped me a ton was doing pelvic floor yoga to isolate and stretch the different muscles around the pelvic floor. I found doing it consistently gave me great results in alleviating the pain. Its worth a try if you've not done it before. Here is a video I followed:

Excuse my ignorance, but aren't uti treated by the antibiotic being excreted when you pee? If you are using a catheter then won't the antibiotic containing pee bypass the urethra and not treat the infection? What does it feel like when you clench? Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having. Hope this helps your doctor figure out next steps for you.

Strange days indeed - a 24 x 7 experiment
superabsorbantpolymer replied to oznl's topic in Our Lifestyle Discussion
I find that for exercise something in between a pull up and a proper diaper is needed. A low grade tape on medical diaper, reinforced with compression shorts. Something like a depend with tabs/tena/etc where the price per unit is low enough that you don't care about tossing it after an hour, but you can actually use it for the time you'll exercise. -

If nothing else, those ads serve to normalize her diapered husband. Enough people in your area need diapers that they are advertising them nonstop on the telly! -
I would watch it if you put it on YouTube

Incontrol resells European tena slip active fit in maxi and ultima absorbency, so you can get the good ones in Canada. They are much more reliable for a daytime couple hours diaper than the ATNs you use. https://ca.incontroldiapers.ca/tena-slip-maxi-european-incontinence-briefs/ https://ca.incontroldiapers.ca/tena-slip-active-ultima-incontinence-briefs/ At $164 cad per case of (24x3) 72 large maxi diapers, $2.27 per diaper, versus $2.68 for BeDry. You're better off getting the BeDry. But I enjoy the tena active fits. I think they're the best mass market medical diaper, but they are not nearly as capable as abdl brand medical diapers. I can get them from kiddo diapers for cheaper in the US when they are in stock, so I've got a couple cases of them lately.
