5th of December 2014 -- Family and Holidays
Being an adult in diapers can be
difficult at times; especially around the holidays
when extended family is around and many of us will
be travelling. With that in mind I wanted to offer a
few tips:
At Home:
If you don't have a medical or emotional NEED for
diapers and will have family visiting that doesn't
know about your diapers consider taking a break from
them and putting your diapers and baby things away
for the duration of their visit. Remember that
family can be snoopers! The medicine cabinet is not
a good hiding spot for your paci and your bottles
WILL be discovered anywhere in the kitchen.
If your diapers are discovered be prepared. How much
you tell them is up to you, but have your answer
ready in case you need it. "I need them, but would
rather not talk about it" should be enough for
anyone but Mom who may require more of an answer.
If giving up diapers isn't an option - or you just
don't want to - then try to keep things discreet.
Keep your supplies in your bedroom and away from
prying eyes. Use diaper covers to muffle the crinkle
of diposables, and long tail shirts or onesies to
keep 'plumbers crack' from becoming diaper butt!
On the Road:
Bring extras! Don't let math ruin your pants! "X"
number of diapers times "X" days sounds like a great
plan until you get a torn diaper or experience a
heavy wetting day. And weather and other delays
could up the length of your stay.
Plan for emergencies. If you are going out of town
research now where you can get a decent diaper brand
if the need arises. NOW is the time to call
pharmacies in the area and enquire about what brands
they carry. Don't wait until you need them, but
can't make private calls with nosy Aunt Carole
hanging about!
Most importantly: be safe and
have a Happy Holiday!
