Dear Daily Diapers Letter with Answer |
|
Dear Daily Di,
I appreciated your insightful response to the man
who questioned why so few women appear to be adult babies. As a woman,
and an ab, I am very cautious about announcing my presence on
diaper-related boards for a number of reasons, including those you
mentioned. While I know that there are many men on these boards that
are friendly and considerate towards women, there are also a number of
them that are rude and vulgar. I also believe that some of these guys
are unaware that if a woman is posting on the board, chances are she's
an ab and not a mommy. Mommies are going to say they're mommies. An
adult baby girl, while probably happy to occasionally trade
"parenting" roles with an ab boy - just to be fair - does
not want to become a full-time caregiver to a messy-bottomed 200 pound
man. She's there because SHE wants to be babied.
I also agree there's a certain double standard in
society towards men acting out any childish fantasies. A woman wearing
juvenile clothing or acting like a little girl is more
likely to be seen as cute or sexy by a man. A man doing the very same
thing is likely to have most women thinking he needs a mental health
exam. I do disagree with you on the "pads are like diapers"
thing. While they do absorb fluid in a similar manner to a diaper,
they do not have the same emotional resonance or comfort factor that
a diaper has. For girls menstrual periods are associated with growing
up, not being a baby, and for many women they also come with
unpleasant side effects like cramps, nausea, and headaches. Believe
me, menstrual pads do not conjure images of blissful babyhood for
women. They are more often viewed as an obnoxious albeit
necessary, monthly burden. And most pads these days are extemely thin.
Those TV ads use the diaper analogy in order to get women to buy their
tampon product. To me, it's almost as if they're shaming women into
using tampons instead, by saying pads are like babyish
diapers. So, while I understand why you might make the connection
between pads and diapers, I don't agree with you there. Diapers offer
an emotional comfort and security. Pads are a nuisance.
Despite that one difference of opinion, I agree
whole heartedly with your final two paragraphs. I'd also like to add
that your site is an enjoyable place to visit and has the most
well-behaved posters that I've seen on any ab site.
One more thing ... if you're curious about the
differences between male and female ab's, it seems to me that the
majority of ads placed by men are from guys from 18 to 24. The women
appear to be mostly in their thirties to forties. It could just be the
particular time that I happened to be looking, but it seemed rather
interesting.
Keep up the good work Di!
