  1. Negative. Nap in that sense comes from the Dutch. Nappy and napkin come from the French rooted back into meaning table cloth.
  2. The boss closed the door and sat down. “I’ve been watching you and Kelly since you each got back from Pleasant Acres. I’ve decided to make some changes now. I’ll have all the affected parties in shortly, but I wanted to tell you personally, first.” Jim silently nodded, not knowing where this was going. “Kelly’s development has really taken off. I like how she’s stepped in for Vic and made good decisions, including sending Meagan off to PA. I think he’s going to make a good Director of Engineering.” There Jim had it. Director of Engineering was his job. He was being replaced. He felt a pain in his stomach. “That leaves what I’m going to do with you. I think I have the perfect thing.” Jim was still nervous. He thought about Pam. Without thinking, he blurted out, “Can I keep Pam with me?” The boss smiled. “Of course. In fact, Pam and Kathy have found an assistant for Kelly. Pam wanted to stay with you, as well. I guess you’ve figured out what’s coming next.” “Actually, sorry. No, I haven’t. I mean, I like my job, but if the company decides that there’s another role they'd rather have me in. I’ll do my best to make everything successful.” He hoped that sounded positive, not like sour grapes about being reassigned. The boss grinned. “I don’t think you do understand. You see, I’m going for a little touch-up work at Pleasant Acres and then I’m on to bigger things. I’m leaving the company.” “I’ll be sorry to see you go,” Jim said sincerely. “You probably might at that,” the Boss said. The awkward pause continued, but finally the boss broke the quiet. “You still haven’t figured it out?” “No.” “You’re replacing me.”
  3. Work progressed. Pam continued to work at the office, keeping him organized, changing diapers, and occasionally offering to nurse him. He had tried asking her out or over to his apartment a few times, but she told him that it was too soon to be thinking about such things. One morning, Kelly came into his office. “How are things going on the project?” Jim asked. “Good, I wanted to bounce something off you.” “Shoot.” “Well, I’ve had an opportunity to work with each person on Vic’s team. There’s one woman, Meagan, who I think has great potential, but she’s timid and indecisive,” Kelly paused to see if Jim was going to pick up on the hint. “I think she could be greatly helped by Pleasant Acres,” she finally stated. “Of course, I think we should wait until Vic gets back and bounce it off him, and there’s no point in further depleting the team. I’m good, but I’m still getting up to speed on that.” Jim just nodded. Kelly’s ideas were sound, and his suggestions on how to handle things were just as he would have done.” “Sounds good,” Jim said. “I’ll talk to Pam about it and see if she can get the ball rolling. You’re right on both points about waiting for Vic.” Kelly excused herself, and Pam entered the office. “Kelly was just telling me that Meagan in Vic’s group would be a good candidate for PA. Of course, we both agree that waiting until Vic gets back would be best and to let him make the call,” Jim explained. “Sounds great. I’ll get details from Kelly. On that subject, I heard from them that Vic should be back next week.” Excellent, Jim thought to himself. “Kathy Woods and I have to go offsite this afternoon to see about a new hire for the company; I hope you won’t be too inconvenienced,” Pam explained. “No, I should be fine.” “Do you need a diaper change before I go?” “I’m fine.” She left briefly and returned with a small insulated bag. “I pumped these for you.” Jim opened the bag and saw there were two baby bottles inside. He tilted them to see that they contained Pam’s milk. “I didn’t want you to go hungry.” Jim smiled and told her he’d see her when she got back. Jim continued working, then took a stroll to the little deli in the next building. He returned to his office and started to eat at his desk. He remembered Pam’s gift and went and latched the door. He pulled out a bottle to drink with his sandwich. It was late in the day when Pam returned. She said their visit had been successful, but wouldn’t elaborate further. She also declined the offer of a drink after work. Jim sighed, grabbed the case with the remaining bottle, and headed home. Monday came, and Jim had Vic see him first thing. “How was Pleasant Acres?” “A bit unsettling at first,” Vic admitted. “But I think it did a world of good for me. I’m ready to dive back into work.” “Great,” Jim said. He called Kelly and asked her to come in. “Hi, Vic,” Kelly said. Vic did a double-take as he had not seen the transformed Kevin yet. “Hi, umm…” “Kelly,” she said. “I presume Jim called me up here to let you know what has been happening with your team while you were gone.” “That would be a good thing,” Vic agreed. “OK, you too can delve into the details after this meeting,” Jim interrupted. “I have one issue to discuss with you both. Jim thinks that Meagan could benefit from Pleasant Acres.” Vic thought for just a few seconds and replied, “Most definitely.” “OK, I’ll give you guys a few days to get things settled down, and we’ll see about sending her.” They both left the room. That would keep Kevin busy for a couple of days. Now he wondered where he would assign him next. Maybe another team leader could use a stint at PA. No, he thought, nobody really needed it right away. A knock came at the door. To his surprise, Jim saw it was his boss. “I need to talk to you.” This sounded ominous.
  4. We headed over to my place. I pulled my diaper bag out of the car, and Pam took hers out. We went to the changing table and set to changing each other. After they changed they left their pants off and headed in just shirts and diapers into the living room. “What do you want to do about food. I have to say I don’t have much right now in the fridge.” Jim asked. “We could order something in. Pizza?” Pam replied. Jim set out to order the pizza. “It’s just down the street. Be here in 20 minutes or so.” The food arrived, and they set to eating. When they were finished, Pam came to him. “Would you like some milk?” Jim smiled and unbuttoned her blouse. She moved to the sofa, sat down, and let Jim get comfortable at her breast. As she suckled, Pam stroked his hair. A while later he awoke. It was dark, but he was still in Pam’s lap. “You’re awake, sleepy head?” Pam asked. “What happened?” “You fell asleep. Don’t worry, I don’t mind. Let me put you to bed.” She led him to the bedroom and placed him under the covers. She went over to the changing table, picked up her pants, and pulled them on. “You’re not staying?” Jim asked. “I still think it is risky at this point. Soon, it will be easier for us.” “Oh, OK,” Jim said, somewhat disappointed. Pam kissed him and then smoothed the blankets over him. “Just relax, it will be better soon.” Jim, comforted, drifted off to sleep. The next day, Jim woke up, far from comforted. He was nervous. What wasn’t Pam telling him? Were they going to replace him with Kevin, er uh, Kelly? Were they going to fire him? No, they wouldn’t do that. They spent a lot of money on him. Pleasant Acres couldn’t be cheap. Maybe they’d reassign him to a special project. Maybe they’d reassign Pam. Neither really appealed to him. He liked being in management now, he had to admit. Yeah, he could still get his technical hands dirty when he wanted to, but he liked working with the team leads across all the projects. It gave him a sense of accomplishment. He also loved having Pam as his assistant. He was getting several times more stuff done with her help, not just the diaper changing assistance. Still he was beginning to think he loved her, and he’d want her in his life even if it wasn’t at work. “Relax, Jim,” he told himself. “Go with the flow.” This is what the time at Pleasant Acres was all about, right? Pam wasn’t worried, it seemed. He shouldn’t.
  5. Shortened to "pram" in common speak. The origin is from the Latin to meaning walk around in.
  6. The Oxford English Dictionary lists the preference for "diaper" vs. "nappy" as a North American thing rather than British-vs-US. As someone else has noted, diaper etymologically comes from French and refers to the pattern in the fabric (birdseye fabric would certainly qualify). Nappy is a British shortening of napkin, another word derived from the French, which again refers to pieces of fabric. Neither is actually what the French use. They use couche, shortened from couche culottes, meaning layered pants.
  7. Interesting. I've got Suzy Quattro running through my head now.
  8. "Which one is the 'Any' Key?"
  9. I always was annoyed by people who email me asking for my email address.
  10. At the end of the week, Jim was getting a diaper change from Pam. He decided he’d try something. “How about going out for a drink?” he asked her. “Sure. Let me do my own change first, and then we can go.” They walked down the street to a local bar. They sat at a table. Jim ordered a beer, and Pam a glass of white wine. “Well, Kelly seems to really be getting into the swing of things at work,” Jim started. “Yes. She’s certainly charged up now. And I can see that her interactions with both sexes have changed for the better. She’ll be executive material soon.” “I’ll have to figure out how to put that to the best use,” Jim said. Pam nodded. He got the idea she knew something he didn’t. “What aren’t you telling me?” he asked her. “I’m not at liberty to say quite now. But you’ll find out soon.” Jim was a bit peeved. Was this more Pleasant Acres stuff? There seemed to be quite a conspiracy going to send employees there. Admittedly, it had worked out so far. He voiced his suspicions. “It seems like people won’t be happy until everyone in the company has been sent to Pleasant Acres.” Pam sighed. “Well, would that be a bad thing?” “Well, I admit it worked for people, but not everybody has ‘issues’,” Jim said. “You’d be surprised. Everybody has problems in some aspect. It may not necessarily be work-related, but if they can get help with them outside work, it will improve them at work.” “I suppose,” Jim said. They ordered another round. “So you apparently know what the future is,” Jim started. “What’s in yours?” She smiled. “Well, I’d like to stay with and improve the company while continuing to take care of someone I care for.” Jim thought about the implications of this for a second. Part of the reason for asking Pam out was to try to divine this information. He’d been conflicted since he came home from Pleasant Acres. He found himself looking at Pam’s body and feeling guilty. Lately he’d been fascinated with her breasts. “So that’s what it is?” She nodded. “I’m just worried that the feelings might not be mutual, and I didn’t want to make work awkward.” Jim smiled, took a pull on his beer, and committed himself. “I’ve had exactly the same feelings and concerns. Shall we order another round?” “No,” Pam said. “I’m in desperate need of a diaper change.” “Me, too,” Jim said. “Where do you want to do it?” “Your place.”
  11. Don't see anything magic when I google it. Locking plastic pants/diaper covers have been around for a while. They make "novelty" timed padlocks that will fit there, or you can put a regular lock key in a timed-access box (or freeze it in a block of ice, etc...).
  12. PureWick is a female thing. It works better in hospital situations than indwelling catheters. Yeah, when I got laid off years ago, I switched to cloth/
  13. They flew home, and Pam offered to come up, change him, and let him nurse a bit, but then she went home. Jim sat there on the bed wondering just where this was going. Monday morning, work was back to normal. Pam came in and said that she heard that Kevin would be back next week. “Hmm,” said Jim. “It’s going to be interesting moving Alice out of the team lead. She’s been doing such a good job.” “Why not leave her there?” Pam suggested. “You can ask Kevin to take over Vic’s team while he’s off. Tell him that getting experience with multiple projects will work well for his advancement in the company.” “That’s a great idea,” Jim said. “So you think we should send Vic off as soon as Kevin gets back.” “Pretty much. We can wait a day or so to let Kevin settle in, but let him know what’s going on so he doesn’t get worried that his being away cost him his team.” “Excellent. Work up the arrangements. If Kevin is back on Monday, we can send Vic on Wednesday.” The rest of the week progressed. Jim didn’t have any interaction with Pam other than work, aside from a few diaper changes. He didn’t know how she was relieving her lactation issues, but likely whatever she was doing before. Monday came around. A knock came at the door. “Come in,” Jim said. A woman in a dress came in, but it only took a few seconds to realize it was Kevin. “Kevin, I see you’ve made some changes.” “Kelly,” he said. “I’m trying that name out for right now.” “Have a seat, and tell me about it.” Kevin, now Kelly, closed the door and sat down. “Well, I realized I had a problem with women, especially ones smart or powerful enough to be a threat to me. The Pleasant Acres staff thought a little role playing might help. I got regressed to a baby girl. Then they brought me up to adulthood.” “And they want you to stay like that?” “Well, we had lots of discussions, and they convinced me it is worth a try. It might be the root of my issues. Envy more than animosity.” “So what happens now?” Jim asked. “I go back to work, as Kelly, for now.” “And then?” “Well, I’ve started hormones, and I’m starting to see some physical changes, but it's going to take a while. I’ve got the option of going back to being Kevin at this stage, but I’m going to give it a try.” Jim thought about this for a bit. He had one detail to ask about. “Are you wearing diapers?” “No, they let me get potty trained again. They offered to let me wear them just because of the issue of which gender bathroom to use, but I felt I could deal with it. Most of my time right now is going to be at the office or home anyhow.” Jim nodded. He explained that he wanted Kelly to take over for Vic while he was at Pleasant Acres. “Sure, he needs it for sure. I’ll keep his team going while he’s gone.” “Thanks, this makes things easier for me.” Jim let Kelly handle email and some administrative tasks for the rest of the day. Kathy in HR had already greased the name and sex change in his records; she just needed a new photo for his revised ID. Tuesday, they met with Vic and explained that he was needed for a special assignment and that Kelly would temporarily take his team while that was happening. Vic was uneasy, but Jim assured him that it was no reflection on his leadership. Jim asked Vic to get Kelly up to speed on the project, and that they’d have a meeting the next morning to tell Vic what was next. Pam brought Vic in on Wednesday morning. Kathy and the boss joined them. Jim explained that Vic was doing quite well both technically and in most leadership ways, but they thought that they could make him better if they could get him into a special program. Faced with the entire company management, he agreed. “When do I go?” “Now,” Jim said. Kathy passed over a glass to Vic. “This will help you relax for the trip.” Vic stared at it for a second and then drank it down. Moments later, a wheelchair arrived to take him away.
  14. That's temporary. We're burning through the SPR like there's no tomorrow. Unless the Straits of Hormuz open up, things are going to skyrocket by the end of the summer.
  15. Yeah, but like the hoverrounds and other DME things, nobody pays it. These exist (outside of hospital situations) for no other reason than to bilk medicare for the costs.
