I heard about one company in the news that sends their employees out of the country to Costa Rica for surgeries that here in the states would cost 3 or 5 times what it does over there. They even give their employees $2,500 for doing so and the employees also pay nothing out of their own pocket.
Thanks Square Duck. I named him Tribble because he only has three legs. My husband and I wanted a name with "Tri" in it because we didn't want to call him Tripod. It seemed a little mean. He was hit by a car before we adopted him and his hind leg had to be amputated. He is my little escape artist and we have to watch him like a hawk. He doesn't know that he is strictly an indoor kitty now.
I can only imagine. I make about what you are getting right now, but with short term disability it bites the big one. I only get 50% of my base pay, but I am able to work part-time which has been a Godsend. That helps a little bit. I am also so thankful that I have a spouse who is working, because I don't know what I would do if I didn't.
