First off, I did give an official Asshat warning at the beginning of my post. Calling me rude is no strange epiphany for me.
Still, you admit your lie right away: You DON'T write your stories as a 'Selfless act.' You write for yourself. The only selfless part of your action is the time it takes to hit Ctrl. C - Ctrl. V. So I say something about you, you call me a liar, and then admit what I said was true.
And yes, I do have a right to critique whatever I'd like. You have the right to ignore me, but when one shares anything on a *public forum* (a place designed to encourage discussion and debate,) I do indeed have the right and ability to critique everything.
By the way, I had to ask if you read my post because you completely ignored it. If you disagreed with it, that's fine, but you directly contradicted what I said about myself with a blanket statement about everyone on the site. That typically infers, not disagreement, but complete disregard. Hence, I had to ask.
While I appreciate the "asshat" warning, it doesn't give you the right to demean others. Offer criticism in a way that does not otherwise insult someone and they are more likely to listen. Be rude, and frankly people will just ignore you.
I am a lurker more often than not. Once and a while a story, and yes I ready quite a few of them, will be written in a way that draws me into the world the author is describing, and then I will comment. I don't provide the criticism a lot because there are too many others who find the flaws than the gems. If something is too hard to read, I won't read it. This all comes down to the whole, if you can't be polite then go elsewhere rule.
My two cents are paid in full.
