It's amazing how common your story is here. I can't recommend you keep this part of you from your wife though. After all it is highly likely she will figure it out or find your stash eventually. The alternative is to just let her find out and come to her own misconceptions.

Personally I'd recommend you pick a good time and tell her on your own terms. This way you can direct the conversation to a more positive outcome and be there to answer any questions she might have. That's just me though.
