DailyDi Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I must remember to not eat salads anymore. I have an upset tummy and I'm pooping lawn clippings!
DailyDi Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 LOL. I'm allergic to lettuce all of a sudden. It's the weirdest allergy to me, the one thing I should be eating (salads) is the one thing my body just won't have!
square_duck Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It could be something on the lettuce like a pesticide or something thats causing it. Was the salad home made or did you go out? It could be also the dressing or some other veggie that was in there
~*PrincessZozo*~ Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 one of my old meds made me lactose intolerant..
square_duck Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm kind of partial to bok choy myself....God thats good stuff
Burp_Cup Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Perhaps, a wilted spinach (warm) salad with bacon and/or bacon bits may be the ticket. There are many recipes for this and most of them are simple and quick.
Bettypooh Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 You need to eliminate suspect foods one at a time for several days- even a week- each and monitor what happens. That's how I found my food allergies. When you feel weell then try the suspect food again- if the problem returns you found the culprit and you can now manage the problem. It can be one thing or a group of similar things. It can take awhile but that's what my MD had me do and it works!
astrodiaper Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Dammit! I was thinking about starting to eat more veggies. Now I am scared. Lol!
Dill_Pickle Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 DailyDi, You are such a goose! (gin!) Sounds like you may have a touch of food poisoning. Or maybe someone preserved the lettuce with a bit of sulfites. (use lemon juice at home) Eat more vegetables!
DLdapper Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I hope you recovered swiftly, nobody wants an upset tummy! Do you not eat salads and the like very often? I love them and would be very sad if they upset my stomach.
DailyDi Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 I stopped for a while because I was getting sick from salads, but forgot that day when my fav pasta place had a free salad as part of a lunch special. I love their house dressing, so ate away. Romaine and iceberg are definite no nos. Spinach I do fine with thankfully.
square_duck Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I had something like this happen a couple of times. I don't have any food allergies that I know of (knock on wood) but some foods have a weird effect on me if I hadn't eaten them in a while..or it could be a combination..I don't know. Once while eating in restaurant I was almost over come with an urgent urge and zipped off to the bathroom to be rewarded with a rather explosive episode what brought it on I have no clue, just kind of wish I had been wearing at the time I ate some Jicama and had something similar happen, but I couldn't recreate the experiance no matter how much I ate... Same thing with dried Apricots, which I love I had some and for some reason, had the runs not to long afterwards, so I don't know..it could just be the fact that I don't eat these things very often, so the shock to my system might be the cause. It's weird though as it only happens once and then I can't recreate it. Oh well Hope your feeling better and the lawn stays mowed!
xtrabulk Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Good luck, sir. I suddenly, at the age of 40ish, have become allergic to bananas and citrus. Not to bomb your thread, but I wonder if the ol' trick would kill me now. Lol! Edited for a misspelling.
DailyDi Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 I wouldn't try it lol.... just to avoid explaining it to the ER staff!
