wolfpup2008 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 When I use a belly bag with a Foley, I find that the catheter is too long. The excess lengthy allows me to point down. Instead I would like to be pointing up, ideally without much slack at all. The excess length is on the order of 3 to 5 inches. Ideas?
beallucanb Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 You could cut the hose and make a coupler with a straight fitting.
wolfpup2008 Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks for your response, beallucanb. I wasn't asking for a DIY solution, but rather wanted to find out if there is such a thing as a shorter Foley. Searching online can only find 16" Foleys, whcih appears to be a standard length.
whisko Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 i would imagine that sometimes one might need a longer foley, but not very often a shorter one.
wolfpup2008 Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Thanks, whisko. I have no intention of wearing a modified catheter in the fasion suggested.
whisko Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Thanks, whisko. I have no intention of wearing a modified catheter in the fasion suggested. yay, i scared you off! though i feel like a hypocrite now: i modify my foley caths, but just by chopping off the outlet part so the urine doesn't come from wherever the heck the outlet decides to get stuck at. Why the belly bag? Because they are _so_ much more comfortable to wear than leg bags! My experience with them has been that they very quickly become part of me, they provide little to no distraction from daily activities, are worry free to handle, don't slip, don't pinch etc. i admit i've never tried a belly bag. or a leg bag (except for maybe six hours one day because it came with a foley kit)... i shall try a leg bag sometime :-) thanks!
