stork Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 So I just received some spam to an email address of mine that is only used on these forums. I create a separate email address for every single service that requires one. It allows me to know who is the cause of the spam when I start getting it, and lets me shut down the account easily. This account has never received any email except from the dailydiapers system until now. I see 2 possible reasons. 1) Someone compromised the system and got a list of all the users & their emails. This is a cause for concern as privacy is a serious matter for most of us here. 2) Our email addresses were sold. This is also cause for concern as that's a major breach of trust (plus legality issues as well).

mahleedl Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I wonder if there's another plausible explanation?
DailyDi Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I've gotten it at several of my emails - both from here and non abdl ones. They seem to be blanket spamming as some went to random names at my domains Definitely did not sell anyone's info.
BoTox Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I see spam from everywhere for everything. I've created new domains that have no valid email addresses and as soon as I put a server on the network, it gets hit with spam. The quarantine fills up with it faster than the DNS can replicate to the world. Stuff you wouldn't believe like very specific names and then the random crud like 123abc@generic.com.

DiapermanAl Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Was it adressed to undisclosed reciepents? I get alot of spam that way.
freswith Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I haven't had that one in the UK yet, so they seem to be able to distinguish betweem y UK AOL address and a US AOL address.
