Just saw the new diaperspace for the first time in over a week during their "upgrade." They messed with it. I don't like it. It doesn't even say "diaperspace" at the top. I'm crushed. I always liked the pretty soft colors there, very babyish. I've taken them off my bookmarks bar and it looks like I'll be hanging out here a lot more often. DS's loss is DD's gain. I just wish this site were prettier. Anyone have any ideas on how I can "soften" the look of the page at this site? It's too dark and clinical looking for my taste.

Give them time. That's the new version of the base PHPFox script... they still need to change logos and add their layout package.

With every new upgrade it can take some time to figure things out. I will give them some time, however I will say right now I do not like the new changes. The old format was so very easy to navigate. You could browse the newest members very easy, see who had been viewing your own profile and read the blogs so very easily. I don't mind minor changes to improve a site, but when it's compleatly redesigned and there is nothing familiar or the same, then that bothers me a lot. If you think about it, the reasons people come to those sites to begin with is because they like them and how they are layed out. Why change it all around compleatly if the majority of the people like it the way it is? Yeah, sometimes things need to be fixed to work better, but do you really have to change the complete format? In MHO, easy is best! Sure, you can try and impress people with new technology and put in menu bars everywhere that leads you to this and that personal setting, but I just like to go there, hit a button and have it take me where I want to go like it used to be.

their "upgrade" is a complete f**king failure. I expected better from them than to do a copy of wetting wonderland, since Wonderland was made to be against DS basically. It looks like crap, the navigation is crap, and well here is a note to all webmasters....

Dear Webmasters,
If you make a site that poeple enjoy, that looks nifty, and is enjoyable.... CHANGE...NOTHING! DO NOT UPGRADE! I don't want to hear your pathetic excuses, keep the templates keep YOUR look do NOT try to be like every other site do NOT try to get a "better" or "edgier" look, because it in the end makes your site CRAP (not that DS was awesome anyways with all the BS and shady people on there) but come on this is pathetic and like I've said, the site looks like crap. You will irritate any regular user that is used to your layout, and well more than likely it will irritate newbies tot he site they were just trying to get things figured out.

ALSO.... this whole "everything is public" thing, yeah that's bothersome. Know who needs to know I just left a comment on someones photo or page? The user that I just commented on. You do NOT need to post that so that the whole site can see that "User A just commented on User B's blog" on the dashboard. Why should the whole site know let alone care? stupid twits.Sometimes, it would be nice if ONLY YOUR FRIENDS got notifications of your stuff. maybe write a blog you only want YOUR FRIENDS to see. I don't care about most of the site on this topic, so I'll make it friends only...wait... no.... I can't.... bleagh

I must have been one of the ones who was "banned for life" then as I couldn't log in at all and my browser 'couldn't find' the site etc :whistling: I figure this has something to do with Cy*da and her revenge against a lot of people who kicked her in the a$$ for her asinine behavior etc. Now of all the mods were replaced, and I'm almost certian she would have been a mod LOL....once more kicked in the a$$ :roflmao: some people never learn :P

This of coarse is pure speculation on my part, as I have never received any communication from that site other then the confirmation email of being registered....and does it matter...no. I'm happy where i am and have lots of friends and people to chat with...I don't "need" DS....and obviously they don't 'need (or want) me...I'm still there though, they didn't delete my profile or anything sooooooooo MEH.
See what happens with the new upgrade...and how long they stay up this time. :P

is it really necessary to bash a site that provides support and networking for people in such a niche community? if you don't like a particular site, thats fine, but why is it necessary to bash one diaper site on another diaper site?

Its not as if the sites are in competition. I mean I personally don't visit DS as for me it feels more like a social networking community, where DD feels more like a discussion bulletin board type site, and DD fits my user needs better... but thats no reason to go and bash another site like is being done here.

If the owner of DS doesn't like what I have to say about what she has done to the site, know what? she can call me. It's not like she never had my phone number.

Just got on it again this morning. I do not like it, but that's my opinion and I'm intitaled to it. Since this is a discussion board, I can voice my opinions unless asked not to do so, however I will not bash another person since in their own opinion, they may like the new changes.

I don't like navigation through the site, but I will learn it as I go along if I stay there.

I go there to read the blogs and search the new members. Biggest thing I saw was when searching the members, you click on a member, then i brings up a page that shows their birth date and where they are from. If you want to read their profile or anything about them, you have to hit another macro! Extra steps to get where you want to go and extra steps to get back. And that's just to view a member profile.

This goes back to my earlier post about how I think it's fine to make some minor changes, or even a few major ones, but compleatly redesigning a site so not one thing remaines and it is compleatly different is way too radical in my opinion. Basically, I feel the bottom line on upgrades is to make the site perform better and make it easier to navigate and use. So far what I've seen, it runs a lot slower, is much harder to navigate through it and by far not easier to use. It may get easier to use with practice, but with the changes there will still be the extra steps to get to where I want to go, therefore making it less efficiant instead of more efficiant!

Apparently in 'offline mode' so at least they seem to be responding to some criticisms. I personally saw no problem with the layout of the old site, and navigation. It may have been a bit old fashioned, but it was simple, it just needed to be quicker to use at times. I agree with rusty pins, too many changes at once are a big mistake for anything. We have seen facebook evolve over the years to what it is now, but it is vastly different to what it was like 5 years ago. Whereas diaperspace remained practically the same for 5 years before going for a complete overall - a perfect method to alienate long-term users as it means taking time to learn how to go about the place, as opposed to just logging in, and knowing what you want to do. Something like this in the corporate world is usually done with intensive research, and testing, but I think anyone could be forgiven thinking that none of these actually took place, even on a small scale.

RIP Diaperspace v1

Yeah see, it's like musicians "progressing" .....updating is just tech talk for death or well, SUCK horribly. They basically are running off the SAME crap as wetting wonderland which was (imo) tryin to be like a mesh of facebook myspace. BE YOUR OWN SITE! THE WAY IT WAS WORKED!

DiaperSpace is run using a packaged script (like this forum) every so often they have no choice but to upgrade to the new version to plug security holes. PHPFox has changed their layouts and such... DS may just be updating their layout files to work with the new script version.
