I am the son of a WWII Vet. He was a B-24 Navigator and retired Lt. Col. after serving 31 years. He was part of the peace talks that ending the conflict in Vietnam. I am very proud of him and what he did to help keep the U.S.A a free country.

To all of those still serving, I would like to say Thank you. Being the son of a Veteran makes me appreciate those people who are fighting the current war and the past.

Great grandson of men who fought the Kaiser. Also a washout from US Navy OCS (medical reasons, long story). Son of a Merchant Marine who served in a war zone. So I may not be military, but my blood runs thick in that direction, and it's not for lack of trying.

Served 4 years in the USAF Auxiliary / Civil Air Patrol.

It's an unpaid volunteer organization that isn't technically military, but it is organized under Title 10 of the US Code (governing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Reserve Components). My primary duties were assisting with ground and air SAR missions for downed civilian pilots.

US Air Force, 1973-1978 with 1 year working with the Canadian Air Force on the DEW Line above the Arctic Circle. Quite an experience, wouldn't want to do all of it again, especially in the field I was in, but came away a better individual.

I have true admiration for all serving, past, present and future, for what they have given and will give, from themselves and to us all. THANK YOU.

I am currently in. I got back from Iraq in November of last year and while I was deployed I found these sites dedicated to DLs and ABs and Was amazed because all my life i thought this facination was a taboo. I am glad I found this site
Life is too short to spend mad.

I was lucky enough to have a fairly large ab/dl population around ft. Hood Texas. Blackhawk helicopter crew chief, 11 years active then national guard after that. Shield, storm, opc1&2, jtf6, Bosnia, Somalia, and sitting back expecting the call to Afghanistan one of these days.

I don't think this really counts for me. Gonna join the Navy soon, but not yet. Step-father was a Marine, Gunnery Sergent i think. Proud of him. Vietnam(maybe), Guam definitely. Grandfather was a WWII veteran and sad to say i don't know his rank or anything.

To all military people, thank you for doing what you do.

3 years USMC 1995-1997 disability retired.

Funny, I joined to condition myself away from diapers (among things), and ended up with urge incontinence from a car wreck (among things).
Be careful you might just get what you wish for... and find you like it.

Canadian Infantry Officer 1964-1975.

Platoon Commander then Company Commander

it was a wonderful experience and would hope my grandchildren would consider a military career

Jim

Capt RRegtC Ret'd

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but why would you want your grandchildren to consider a military career? I would think you would want them to have a safe career. Going to a warzone and maybe getting killed doesn't sound like it would be something I would want for my family members.
