  1. I have some nerve damage in my lower spine that causes my incontinence, so I can't feel my bladder level at all. The other thing is sometimes it will fill up pretty full before it releases, and other times it will release when it doesn't have much in it. If it is pretty full, I can feel it when the urine starts "coming down the pipe" so to speak, but I can't so anything to stop it, if it isn't very full, I don't feel anything really except the warmth of wetting my diaper. I have kind of the same issue with my bowels, I don't have a lot of feeling from the lower digestive tract. The inner sphincter is naturally involuntary anyway, but I have no control over my outer sphincter. So I don't feel when things are moving down the track usually, but I can still feel the inner sphincter open. At that point, I usually only have a very short time before I begin to go, and I can't do anything to stop it really, which is a strange feeling, because I try to "clench" and hold it back, but nothing happens. It is a weird feeling to tell your body to do something that it has done thousands of times, and get no response.
  2. I have inward herniation of L4 and L5 S1 from an injury I incurred while in the Army. It has caused nerve damage that eliminated my bladder and bowel control. I have not had it operated on, and I am almost 13 years in. I can tell you that the pain level does reduce with time, as the disc starts to dry up and most of the nerve irritating proteins leak out. I have had sciatica down both legs, and general lower back pain of varying degrees since the herniation, but it seems to be becoming less of an issue as time wears on. I weighed the options of surgery or just living with it, after the VA took 3+ months to examine me, and the never damage was declared permanent, and decided to go with the non surgery option. I know a lot of people who have had back surgery, but I don't know anyone who has had just one. Good luck, and hang in there. Do your best not become hooked on pain pills, I know a lot of people who have gone down that road as well, if you just do your best to work through the pain, you will get used to it over time. I stick with Ibuprofen and nicotine (from Vaping).
  3. So the AIO is All In One, meaning you have your absorbent layer, your leak proof layer, and your fastening method All In One. Monika makes 3 different types of AIO diapers, there are the PUL, which has the polyurethane laminate as the outer most leak proof layer. There are also cotton and flannel AIO, that have a layer of either cotton or flannel over the PUL layer on the outside. This allows her to offer more prints, because the selection of printed PUL is limited. The flannel diapers do not have a leak proof layer, they are just the absorbent layer and the fastening method (velcro). You will need to use a leak proof layer of plastic, rubber, or PUL pants over these. I hope this answers your question.
  4. The Dependeco diaper that you linked to is not an All in One, just so you know. I use and love the PUL AIO's. I usually get them in a solid color, but do have a couple of print ones as well. I have not tried the Leak Master, but I can tell you from reading the description that it will be much thicker than the Dependeco. My experience with the Dependeco is that
  5. I am incontinent, and have been for over 10 years now, both bladder and bowel. This resulted from a spinal injury I received while in the military, so the VA supplies my incontinence
  6. I have two of their all in one Velcro diapers, they are the 6 layer ones, and I love them. I plan on ordering more soon. I got one of the breathable PUL ones, and one of the Vinyl covered ones just to see which I liked better. The PUL really does breath, and is very thin and comfy, the vinyl is fairly thick, and seems like it will last. The diapers are VERY soft and comfy. The sizing seems to run as advertised on the site, and I am very pleased with the quality, especially for the price.
  7. Just thought I would drop a comment that I have really enjoyed this story so far, and hope you will continue it soon.
  8. I have fought this before. If you try the over the counter treatments, and they don't work, then get to the doctor. The yeast infections can get BAD for a male in diapers. They can lead to swelling, cracking, and bleeding of the skin throughout the entire perennial area. Nystatin is a good prescription cream for taking care of the issue.
  9. I would say that the abena X-plus, which I have worn 24/7 for incontinence for the last 8 years or so would be a good starting point. Just a little more absorbency, and pulp that didn't break apart would be a great addition. Also if the standing leak guards were just a little taller, with better elastic it would help with containment of "stuff". I would then add a leak guard at the waist bands, at least in the back, to help stop leaking out of the top of the diaper while laying down. Lastly I would say that a one tape design could be good, as long as it still provides a good fit around the back of the thighs, but it would stop the pinching that always seems to happen at the front of the legs. Seems to happen no matter what I do with the bottom tape, if it is snug at all to provide a no sag fit, there is a slight amount of pinching, mostly when sitting, around the front of the thigh. 10. Those are Kendall Wings HL Ultra 3D adult brief with Hook & Loop, just google it and you will find that they are available in the US.
  11. Hunter1076, That is pretty cool of your friend to walk 3 hours in your shoes. So how did the whole experience work out for her? Iowaincon
  12. Great story, I am looking forward to more.
  13. I am incontinent, and wear abena x-plus 24/7. I don't sleep on my side too much, but on occasion I do, and have not leaked. I would say that you should always point yourself down, and wear diapers with the standing inner leak guards, and a snug fit. I always fold over the front waist band about an inch to the inside as well, I feel this helps when I sleep on my stomach to not leak out over the top front of the diaper. And always use a good under pad, I got one of those washable ones that I put under the sheet, it is barely noticeable that way, but when you leak, only the sheets and the pad get wet making clean up a lot easier. Hope this helps. Iowaincon
  14. Thanks a lot for the update. I was wondering how he was doing. Iowaincon.
