Mazza, check out the true stories page on DD's main site. I have a few "catheter journals" where I documented my journey using catheters for about seven months. The entire time I let my catheter openly drain into my diaper without getting a single infection. As long as you stay clean about them, AND drink lots of cranberry juice you probably won't have any problems either.

I too increased the size of my catheters- towards the end of my journals though. I managed to get up to a 24 fr ok, but a 26 was too big for me to be ok using and had to stop at that point.

I do also want to warn you though. The constant use of catheters ended up making my urethra very sensitive. Any time I have to catheterize now is instantly sore, and often somewhat painful.

Also, my incontinence problems were neurogenic so having used them for so long didn't do me any good. After I stopped using them I was still fully continent and even retaining a bit. Your case may likely he different though, so as they say- results may vary.
