Missing Doggy

Recommended Posts

I'm out of town and visiting my parents this weekend. They used to have a dog so their house and back yard are dog friendly. Left my dog in their house and took them to the movies. Came back about four hours ago and my dog was missing.

She is a 9 years old, brendal colored, female, greyhound mix. Medium to large size, and extremely well trained. She has a red collar with rabies tag and my personal info/mobile number. Also micro chipped.

When she misses me she lays down and whines till I get back. Left her there plenty of times like that- no problem. Absolutely no sign of her breaking through the fence, cant jump high enough to get over it either. Front door and front porch doors were closed, but not locked. Sister was home with her car parked out front, but was sleeping. My dog never barked loud enough to wake her (not an extremely heavy sleeper), and it is extremely unlikely she would try and break out to find me any ways.

She has gotten loose before like when I leave the gate open, and would lay down in my front yard to wait for me. Pretty friendly though, so possible some had the brass to break in and coax her out to steal her?? My parents live on a very busy street though, so not very likely I know.

Extremely strange, can't figure out WTF. Posted online to facebook with a reward, local animal service was open today so reported her lost too. Also spent hours driving around looking for her.

The more time that goes by, the more likely someone took her with no intention of returning her. Also have to leave tomorrow for a 5+ hour drive home. Kinda bummed right now too.

Nooooo! :o

I hope your friend reappears ASAP. Leave a worn T-shirt at the front door, dogs can home in on your body smell even in unfamiliar surroundings. You can usually post "lost dog" notices in the area without risk of official action for posting them as long as they are not on private property. If you don't have a printer some grocery stores do copies and these are more water-resistant.

I'd go nuts if my little friend weren't here with me so here's to hoping for the best!

Thanks Bettypooh, I can't believe I didn't think the old fashioned ways. (tried and true). They are done and done, and I don't care if the flag I'm flying is a used shirt (pirate insignia of all things).

That sucks Brian I'd go nuts if I lost one of my dogs. Hope you find it soon.

You and me both, I seem to have lost my appetite too. I just can't figure out how she is gone, let alone why. At least I can say I've done everything I can at this point.

FOUND HER!

She was walking in completely the wrong direction, but only about a mile away, and apparently had been aimlessly wandering for over 8 hours!

She obviously had gotten out on her own, though still no idea how. A womam had seen her pic on facebook and recognized her. Looked the post back up and called my number. I tried giving her a $100 reward, but she refused to take it! Thank you Mylissa, where ever you are.

No punishment for spice, for this. She needs to know this house is safe for her. Besides, she wont stop whining any ways. I think she is sorry already.

Dogs ARE on par with four year olds. You can teach them almost everything you can teach a kid, but yeah they also just as... inquisitive.

As a side note. When she got back she drank a BUNCH of water. I was ready for her to whine at 2am to be let out, but the poor dog was so tired she never stirred. When we got up this morning her bed was completely soaked.

My dog wet her bed last night. Just like a four year old for yah.
