The Little Sister (Angelkat)

It was over. Her first year of college was finally over. Now, all she had to face was a summer with nothing to do but work her shifts at Build-A-Bear. Alissa wasn't the best student, but she was one who never gave up, even if she was certain that her math homework was plotting to murder her after coercing her to sleep. That was all over now though.

Maiya let out a small chuckle to herself as she heard the telltale thump of her sister's platform shoes kicking off against the wall. It was hard not to hear those heavy things slamming into the wall no matter where you were in the house. There parents had complained about it in the past but now they were off enjoying their retirements and Maiya and Alissa were left home to their own devices. For the most part Alissa thought she ran the place, and she paid a large chunk of the bills,. but it was hard for her to do the job considering most people didn't believe she was actually twenty-one. Maiya was the one that paid the bills in person and did the shopping while Alissa was off at college. Now that her older sister's term was over though maybe that would change? The girl shrugged to herself and slipped as quietly as she could down the stairs to congratulate her sister on making it through her first term. Alissa was officially a Sophmore now.. or something along those lines.

The teen cut her way into the living room and gave a little way to her sister. "Need a hand sis?" Alissa looked to be struggling with the stool and the glass of juice in hand. It was something Maiya had never had a problem with. She'd been taller than her older sister since she was ten. She'd long since stopped being called the 'little sister' and had moved on to the 'younger sister' to give her sister a bit of an esteem boost. Every time she was called 'big' it was a slap in the face to their full foot size difference. It wasn't every day a younger sister could pick up her elder sibling and carry them around if they wanted to. Something, at this very minute, Maiya managed to resist doing.

"It's fine sissy," Alissa said, as she leaned the stool against the wall, and walked over to the beanbag chair she had bought. Unlike the couch, when she sat on the beanbag chair, her feet could actually touch the ground. Of course, she normally just curled into the chair, so it was really moot, but it was a principle thing to her. She pulled out her phone as she placed the juice on the table next to her, and then looked up to ask, "How was your day Maiya?"

It still took all of her self-control to contain a giggle fit when Alissa called her that. It was so.. very childish but it suited an older sister that people continued to mistake for her little sister. She supposed it didn't help that her sister had to buy things in the adolescent aisles and was still wearing hand-me-downs from her own closet. Shrugging the thoughts away she collapsed onto the couch with a heavy sigh. "Not much I guess. I babysat for the new family down the road for a few hours and then did some work on my computer. It's been kind of a slow day. Their little daughter just slept the whole time. It was easy money I guess. How about you? Your last day of school right?" She was sure her sister's last day of school was more entertaining than her watching a barely potty-trained toddler sleep on their couch.

"So glad it is over. Did I say I hate finals before?" Alissa said, pulling her sweater off, revealing the Elsa and Anna shirt she had bought at Target a few days ago. It was on sale, and one of the least kiddy shirts she could find in that sale, and at least liking Disney stuff was 'normal' for adults. Alissa was always walking that balance of trying to look like an adult when the only clothes she could really afford were found in the kids sections of stores. She never understood why petite clothes in her size were so bloody expensive. They used a lot less fabric after all.

"Yes, you've probably said that a few hundred times by now Alissa. You and every other person in the history of ever hate finals. They're an evil little gift they give us to torture us one more time before we get to go on break and as for Pizza for dinner.... is that before or after we watch Frozen for the five-hundredth time?" A subtle little jab at her sister's shirt that she couldn't quite resist. "Don't tell me you've been browsing the Elsanna boards on reddit again? If I go upstairs will I find Elsa and Anna 'snuggling' again?" She couldn't help but tease her sister at least a little bit when she was being so cute. Her and just about everyone in the world had gone crazy for the movie but Maiya had yet to make it through one sitting without nodding off or wandering off to watch something more interesting, IE something with more explosions in it, but if it made her sister happy who was she to complain?

"If we're doing Pizza though, can we get something that isn't a greasy mop of cheese this time?"

"So... no to the pizza then... and sure, why not watch Frozen again! We can even do the sing a long version," Alissa said, smiling. She knew she was being teased, but she learned a long time to just roll with it. Normally deflated peoples sails, and avoided conflict. Net win for Alissa. "We can try a different take out place?" Alissa offered, pulling out her phone and bringing up her food delivery app. "Want some Applebees?" she asked, climbing out of the bean bag chair, and walking over to the movie cabinet. She pulled out Frozen, and tossed it to her sister. Alissa did not want to pull the stool over to get to the blu-ray player. Why her parents had to place it on top of the ginormous TV stand was beyond her.

For once she let her self-control slip and audibly groaned as she stood up with the Blu-Ray in hand. "Alright, but if I'm watching this than I get to pick desert and we're having caramel chocolate chip ice cream. Oh, and just get me a burger and some fries from Applebees." Sometimes it was a pain being the tall one. Grumbling to herself she pushed the disc in, resisting the urge to break it in half, and set the horribly annoying sing-a-long program up for her and her sister to watch. At least she'd get a good meal out of it. There was no doubt she'd eat the meal too considering how hungry she felt. She felt like she could have eaten the whole cow and then half of her sister while she was at it.

"Like I'd be more then a snack," she said back, giggling. She quickly put in the orders on her phone, grabbed her juice and finished it off, before heading towards the kitchen to get a refill. She made it to the kitchen before she realized she needed her stool, and turned around and went back into the living room, "Sissy, this weekend, can we put the crisper at the top like I keep asking so I can actually reach my stuff?"

Maiya nodded and chuckled back at her sister. "Alright, just remind me after dinner and the movie alright? Otherwise just ask if you need something you silly goose!" It would certainly make things easier if her sister could get everything from the crisper, and not needing the stool, but there was something adorable about having her sister have to climb up just to get juice or even worse have to ask Maiya for help. One of these days she was going to have to just accidentally lose that stool. No, no, that'd be mean wouldn't it? "Come on, your movie is about to start! Don't make me watch this darn thing by myself when you know I don't want to build anymore snowmen!"

Alissa sighed, then almost whispered, "Could you refill my juice then?" while holding her glass out. She didn't want to ask for help, but her sister was right, she should ask. It just made everyones life a little easier. Her expression changed slightly as the film started, and she saw the sing-a-long subtitles. Alissa suppressed a giggle. She didn't enjoy the film nearly as much as her sister thought she did, but she did enjoy teasing her sister by watching it, and singing to all the songs.

"Of course Allykins." She winked back at her sister and grabbed the girl's cup. Returning a few moments later with no trouble and a full glass. In her other hand she held a soda for her own consumption and set them both down on the table before them. Groaning inwardly some as the movie's start came on. It really was the sing-a-long version her sister seemed to love. Though, she could have been wrong, she doubted it though, about it all maybe one of these days her sister would prove her wrong? Nah, that wasn't likely. "So, Sis, what are you going to do now that you aren't working? Do you have any plans for the summer?" If it was anything like the last summer Allissa would no doubt run herself ragged at work or something of the like.

"Nope, not yet at least," Alissa said, taking the glass, and sitting back down in her bean bag chair. "I was thinking of just keeping my hours the way they are now, I mean we got enough to make us through the summer, and I think I need to actually relax for a change." Alissa knew it probably wasn't going to happen, she couldn't tell her manager no, and eventually she would be there full time again for the summer.

"Aww, come on, Do I need to talk to your boss? I bet I can convince her to give you some time off! Just take the whole summer off and hang out with me!" She didn't have much time to try and convince her sister to take the time off. In no time at all her food had arrived and Alissa went off to pay for it. Rather to attempt to pay for it. "Again?" She scowled to herself as she plucked the credit card up from her sister's hand and headed over towards the door. "Here, just swipe the damn thing and give me the food." The man glared back at her and grumbled out a few rude comments before returning her sister's credit card to her again. Taking the food under her hand she returned to her sister and set it down on the living room's table.

"Wow, he was kind of a jerk right? Not giving food to my little sister just cause she doesn't look old enough. Jeeze!" She couldn't resist the urge to tease Alissa about it at least a little. It would help her feel better about it if she joked a bit.

Alissa looked down at be called a little sister, she was used to it, but she still hated it. "He was..." she meekly replied, heading towards the table to get her food out of the bag. The movie was almost to the let it go scene, and she did not want to miss that.
