  1. I do wish to finish it. I just have been lacking motivation. It is something that will be finished. I just couldn't give you a time frame.
  2. I will. Don't worry I've been lacking inspiration and motive for a long time.
  3. It's because of being in a coma for a year. You have to relearn how to do a lot of things.
  4. "Here you go." "Thank you Mikey." Cheryl collected the bowl from my hands. David was over washing dishes and I was here. Still in the high chair until I was let out. Until I was let out. It was a new norm, but I still disliked it so. Same with grabbing, the baby-talk from strangers, the baby-talk at home along with so many other things out of my control. Though that is all the new norm. I could do nothing but be patient and wait for the world to move me. With the dishes done, David came over and unstrapped me, and carried me upstairs. My bib was left downstairs on the highchair, ever only occasionally becoming dirty. A quick diaper change and we were back downstairs. This time though the plush turtle was brought along. Cheryl was in the family-room sitting on the floor. A quick passing by and the toy was handed off to her. "Whats going on?" I asked just as David sat down on the floor a decent distance away. "Well, we want to keep working on walking." Cheryl said. "And we thought maybe trying a positive reinforcement would be a bit helpful." David stood me up in front of him, still holding me by the waist. "You mean more than my normal desire to want to walk? And with that toy?" "You mean Mr. Turtle?" "Sure. Whatever." "Alright well come on. Come to Mommy." Cheryl said, reaching her arms out, one of her hands holding the toy out. David let go of me and I stood there, rolling my eyes for a second before attempting to make my first step. Successfully I made it past the first step. "Go on buddy. You can do it!" David said excitedly. But the second and third steps were harder. My own excitement took over as I realized I could do it. "Come on sweetie, you can do it." Mo-I mean Cheryl said ever so excitedly. But half way between the two giants I toppled to the side and fell. ****************** "You're alright. Let's try again." David reached forward and lifted the small boy back to start. Holding him up in place. "Ready. Set. Go!" With that, Mikey was on his own again, almost stumbling forward to the giant woman and plush toy in front of him. This time Mikey was getting much closer before stumbling and falling down again. "Come on. You can do it sweetie." The hope Cheryl had was written across her face. They both had come so far and she carried his burdens longer than he realized. With everyone set back up again, Mikey started off strong. "Come on! Grab Mr. Turtle!" Excitement filled the woman's voice. "Come on buddy! You can make it!" David added. The small boy toddler his way across the soft carpet, stumbling along the way but not falling. With the last few steps, Mikey lost balance and fell into the plush toy, gripping it before he fell on his face. David was the first to jump for joy. Cheryl pulled Mikey in for a hug as he clung to the toy in a joyful disbelief. "Yaay! You did it! Mikey you did it!" Everyone was excited but only Cheryl and David were cheering. Mikey was silent with just his mouth hanging open. "Let's try again sweetie." Cheryl handed the tyke to David, which the trio set everything back up. Mikey started off again, stumbling his way forwards and falling only a few steps away. Again they tried and Mikey fell a few steps away. The small boy tried for his last time, trying to reach the stuffed plush toy he struggled. Mikey's legs were trembling as tears welled up in his eyes, believing he wasn't going to make it again. He closed his eyes as he toddler forward until he felt he bumped onto something soft. Grabbing ahold of it tightly, he believed at first he fell and began to cry. It wasn't until the little boy opened his eyes that he realized he was holding onto the plush animal. "I DID IT!" He cried loudly as the two giants with him felt proud of his small accomplishment. It was the first true joy Mikey had felt since arriving. "Well little mister, it's bathtub time. And you get some ice cream afterwards." Cheryl playfully said. "And you, other mister better not eat all the ice cream before we get back." "Me? I would never!" David joked back.
  5. I will be. Sorry, I've been busy and keep accidentally setting myself up for mental roadblocks that are points in the story that are essential to the plot.
  6. David reached for the sleeping boy and let Cheryl get up to go clean up. Mikey began to stir, but quickly fell back asleep. "You should change him and feed him a small bottle. He's going to be cranky if he wakes up hungry." Cheryl whispered giving David a small peck on the lips. David quickly put Mikey into a new set of footie pajamas new diaper. Even wiping his face of the dried tears. Mikey did wake up for a brief moment while the giant was lightly swaddling him, but was still too tired to try to stay awake. Downstairs David grabbed a bottle out of the fridge that was a tad smaller of formula and headed into the family-room to the recliner. With his feet up, laid a little back in the chair, the Giant relaxed and found himself comfortable, before pressing the bottle to the lips of the little boy in his arms. Mikey took to to suckling slowly just as Cheryl came down. "Hey do you have this or do you want me to?" She whispered "It's fine. Besides he has to get used to Daddy too." "Alright. We're going to be having chili for dinner." "Mind grabbing his pacifier before you go?" "I'll be right back then." Cheryl left to go grab a pacifier out of Mikey's room. She was happy that David was working with her and still loved her regardless of the situation they were in. But she was getting worried about how Mikey was with everything. It wasn't that they weren't trying to help the poor boy, more of that he didn't want it. "I just hope he eventually understands. " She sighed and grabbed his pacifier and headed back downstairs. ********************* Quiet sounds of pots clanking together and a seasoned smell filled the air. I took a deep breath and stretched, finding I was only partially unable to move. Opening my eyes, the first thing I saw was David's chin. He was snoring lightly. 'Wait he never does this with me. Why is he doing this with me?' I thought to myself. Prying an arm out from the blanket, I started tapping the Giant on the chest just as Cheryl walked in the room. "Oohh. I see you woke up first, and that Dad-vid fell asleep on you huh?" She chuckled at my confused expression. I watched as Cheryl bent forward and kissed David on the cheek. "Wake up love." She said passionately. I hated it when the two flirted in front of me like I wasn't there. If I had rolled my eyes any further I'd be looking at the inside of my head. But I wasn't one to stop them. Regrettably I looked away and felt myself being kissed on the top of my head. "You too bud." David said softly. I looked back to see Cheryl part way to the kitchen already. My cheeks burned when I realized what just happened, burying my face into the blanket I was wrapped in. Why was he acting so affectionately towards me? Before I could contemplate why, we were on our way over and into the kitchen. Each of his moves felt powerful and sturdy. Upon sighting the highchair I was restrained to for most of my meals, the Giant man unraveled me from the blanket and sat me down in the chair. Since my legs weren't sturdy enough to stand on their own, no one wanted to run the risk of me slipping through the bottom. The aroma of spices hit the air when the lid to the pot was taken off. A small bowl was put together and set to the side, most times the food was way too hot to eat right away for me, and I always ended up getting served last. "Here you go." Cheryl chimed to David, who took the two giant's bowls over to the table. Cheryl brought mine over and set it down in front of me with a fork. Just before I could reach for the fork, she brought a bib out and tied it around my neck quickly. I let out a soft sigh in frustration as I glanced at the garment, trying to remember the days I didn't need to worry about this and quickly swallowed the feeling as we ate.
  7. I'm still continuing the story. It's just writers block sucks. But I have issues figuring out what I want to write.
  8. I stared confused. I hadn't yet met this person before, but she knew me. Uneasy about the position I was in, nor wanting to deal with what was about to happen, I pressed my face against Cheryl's side as I had usually done to avoid longer confrontation with new people. I felt a few strokes of Cheryl's hand on my back, attempting to assure me everything was fine. Cheryl let out a soft sigh. "Alecia, come in. I need to catch you up." We ushered into the family room we all sat down on the couch. Cheryl moved me to sitting sideways on her lap. "Cheryl what's going on?" "Alecia. This is Mikey. But he..." Cheryl paused to word things better. I could tell she was nervous about this because she squeezed me ever so slightly. "...he had an accident. What happened over a year ago, made him forget everything. He was in the hospital up until recently since then." ********************* "I remember you almost got killed because someone tried to kidnap him! What was that about?" Cheryl's heart felt heavy. She knew she had to stretch the truth. Lie even. She had hoped her cover story would work. "Some woman saw Mikey and thought I kidnapped him so she started hiring people to try to take him." Cheryl looked down just as she felt Mikey tense up. He had still long despised ending up the way he did and ensured his guardians understood that. "What about David? Does he know?" Alecia asked, shock on her face. The cover story worked. Though it was slightly altered from the original. "He knows and he has been helping me take care of Mikey, although he isn't that great." Cheryl started to chuckle.P "I bet you he had a hard time changing him the first time." Alecia started laughing, lightly slapping her knee. "OH you have no idea. He kept insisting he 'had this' but poor Mikey was on the changing table for over five minutes. Nothing will beat the time he tried to dress him for bed. Found his onesie on upside down." Cheryl laughed. She felt more at ease now until she felt Mikey tense up. Cheryl peered down to see what was wrong, only to see he was sulking now. She could always tell by the way he hung his head down and away. Mikey could never hide how he was feeling from his caregiver. "Well it looks like we have a Mister Grumpy-pants." Alecia chimed in. The boy's expression turned to surprise and embarrasent as his cheers turned red before turning to face Cheryl instead. "Oh you're alright sweetie. Sorry Alecia he is a bit shy." "Really? Still?" "Yeah, still." "Well I better get going, I don't want to scare the poor thing too much. And besides tonight is date-night. We'll have to catch up more and over a playdate sometime." Alecia said as she stood up. "Indeed we do. I'll see you later then." Cheryl replied escorting her to the door, leaving Mikey on the couch. Once the door was closed, Cheryl headed back to the family room to find her small boy with his knees brought to his chest and head tucked down. "Whats wrong baby?" She said softly, reaching for Mikey. "Go away." Mikey replied. "Sweetie, what's wrong?" "I said go away." Cheryl put her hand up to her chest. She knew it was something she said. This wasn't the first time he had been upset like this and surely it wouldn't be the last. "Mikey. Come here." She stated, coming closer to the couch, prompting the boy to try to scramble in the opposite direction of the giant. "I said go away!" He yelled as she grabbed him by the waist before he fell off the couch. He kicked and punched as she held him tightly to her chest. Cheryl took him to the nursery, all while he was still fighting her and screaming to be let go. The giant knew better since this wasn't the first time Mikey became this way. This was going to be a process. It always was to calm him down whenever he felt the way he did. Just as the two were seated in the rocking chair, you could hear someone enter the house. "I'm here!" Could be heard by David's voice as it echoed upstairs. Just then Mikey broke down crying as the mother turned him into a fetal position and held him still against her chest. "I FUCKING HATE YOU!" Mikey wailed at the top of his lungs repeatedly, although he never meant it. Cheryl just continued to rock the small boy, humming the same tune she did when she first found him years ago. Minutes passed, with words thrown that stung every time to hear, but were empty insults regardless. Cheryl could feel every time his small body trembled with every breath. Those hurt more than anything, just knowing that he was hurting a way she could not stop. Silence slowly fell in the room, Mikey having cried himself to sleep. David came into the doorway of the nursery. "Are you two alright?" He asked quietly. "Yeah. He just..." Cheryl paused, unsure of what to say. "...doesn't have anything he likes here yet. He'll be happy with us one day. I promise." David finished. "I just can't imagine how hard it will be when we tell him about getting married. And that we're moving into your house." "We'll get there Cheryl. Soon."
