AmandaLD
Hi I was just wondering if any cloth wearers have any advice on someone who's just starting out? I saw a picture of Lolette from ABDreams the other day on Tumblr and she was wearing a cloth diaper and it looked really comfortable, how would I get something similar too what she's wearing or how to make them? Baby Brian
The more comfortable looking cloth diapers are going to be contoured (cut to the hour glass shape), where as most other cloth diapers are going to be flat pre-folds (need to be pre-folded before you can wear them). There are ups and downs to both types, so start out by figuring what you want to get out of your cloth diapers first. Will you be using them at night, and what position do you usually sleep in. Are you going to really be using them to pee in, or more for just comfort. If you will be using them, how long do you want them to last before needing a change. Don't forget a good diaper cover will also be important if you really are going to be using them, but if not maybe you'll want something soft instead. These are all questions you'll have to ask your self. Personally, I switched to cloth at night because I'm a side sleeper and no disposable out there wouldn't leak on me. I started with a few of the leakmaster pre-folds from adult cloth diaper co, paired with the gary activewear pul pants. These were ok for me as I was starting out (certainly better than disposables), but I have since better learned what I need, and have ordered a custom contoured diaper that is extra thick (for more padding concentrated on the sides). The pul pants still work good for now too, though I'm still looking for something even better. Link to comment
waynecook52
Sure must be nice to have the kind of money to spend on adult cloth diapers seeing as they cost so much. For the price of one adult I can buy a dosen baby cloth 2727 diapers and get three changes out of them.Heck my newest ones I have not even bothered to sew them together.I just put two down then I put the outher two down about three inches fold them on both sides and pin them on.Then I wear two dissposables over them. And beleave me they are thick. Assuming you are really using them all the time, an adult cloth diaper (and diaper cover) is going to cost you less than disposables will. You just have to be able to get over the sticker shock of the initial investment. Link to comment
willnotwill
Let's get the terminology straight. Link to comment
CDLover
From the image, it appears that she is wearing either flat or pre-fold diapers. Link to comment
Baby Brian
Sorry guys I can't see the picture to well (on my phone). I also stand corrected on the flat vs prefold. I was using the term prefold for both (though both do still need to be folded in order to wear them), but I was wrong. Link to comment
waynecook52
Brian,I don't pay for my dissposables.I get them from the veterans hospital. And oh yes I sure do use them for their intended purpose. Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
I have tried disposables and have some that I use for non-ABDL purposes, like about twice a year and still prefer cloth. Even with the throw-aways, I wear panties for the certain security Link to comment
heartwood
To understand cloth you have to understand textile. What was hard for me to grasp was the conditioning process. A brand new cloth diapers absorbency is at it's least amount when new and unwashed. Washing them a few times will improve the absorbency... There are a million explanations of this process on the net. Here is a link to my tumblr showcasing all the cloth diapers it have made or purchased., http://matl01.tumblr.com Link to comment

Muddle
I keep a bucket in my shower, fill it with water, and use it to rinse out my wet diapers before I wash them. I have a roomate that I hide my diapers from so it's a good system if you don't want to do laundry that day, you can just leave the diapers soaking in the water and they won't smell. Link to comment
Arvetis
This is a bit of thread necromancy, but does anyone know where I can get large, decently thick flat cloth diapers? I see someone upthread mentioned four-ply flats from Adult Cloth Diapers, but it doesn't look like they have those anymore - the only flats I see are the Purity gauze diapers. Link to comment
Darkfinn
Have you checked Babykins? Link to comment
poobrat
they have the purity gauze up to 44x44" ?its what I use. Link to comment
Arvetis
I like to use the origami fold because of the thickness it gives between the legs, and I really need at least a 48" square for that. 44 ends up not giving enough material for the wings to come down far enough. I did check Babykins, but I didn't see any real flat diapers. They have flat prefold, but you can only fold those one way. Am I missing their real flat ones somewhere? Link to comment
