Maybe lots of {{{{{cuddless}}}}} and {{{{{{{hugggies!!}}}} might help?? and a back rub?

In lieu of that  maybe a glass of warm milk :) '

Usually works for me, but I also take a sleep aid if needed on occasion. and I have yet to wake up dead! :D

My insomnia is cyclical and last night was thed third in a row where I could barely get to sleep late then woke up completely within 1-2 hours, still physically tired and needing rest :( I just laid here in the dark this time, bored stiff and hoping the sandman would come back and finally he did :girl_happy: I feel like crap this morning but if this cycle is over then that is not a complaint!

Being someone who never gets enough sleep I've learned to just live with it. I just cant turn my brain off enough to sleep :( What does some times work for me is very high threshold rowing. Exhaust the body and some times the mind will follow.

I can be completely exhausted and deadly tired and still it will take ages before I fall asleep and when I eventually get some sleep it rarely last longer than 4-5 hours, sometimes I manage to fall asleep again, but not always

I sometimes take sleeping pill, that helps me fall asleep a lot faster, but also then I rarely sleep any longer than 4-5 hours

I would swear that the summer heat plays some kind of role in this as well. I'm currently having my annual August Insomnia. I get by on cat naps during the day. By the time it's August, I hate the summer!

Talking about heat, I live almost smack dab in the middle of B.C. Canada and we've been having highs around +35 for a couple weeks now, it's starting to be cooler though! But when we hit +35 during the day we still drop to around +10 over night but it's usually still plenty warm at bed time... Then along comes winter with -35 instead of +35 lol so it never stays good (+20ish) for too long haha, as for sleep aid it may be frowned upon but I'm not a drinker by any means, nothing against alcohol but I prefer a little bit of pot lol, yes it's illegal, and how some states legalized before B.C. I'll never know, but nonetheless that shit will put you out!!! Just my 2¢ lol

This was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a little kid (it was old even then, but...). It's very soothing! I would try it! ((also, dangit, I need to start remembering to post more on here. I just get shy and lurk a lot...I'm not very good at making friends......))

I know this OP is from a bit back, but I have some tips that might help anyone still seeking help to fall asleep.

First of all, you need a routine. Your body goes through cycles of sleep. So it makes sense to stick to a pretty specific routine.

1. Pick a bed time and stick to it. Allowing yourself to deviate more than an hour can really mess this up for you.

2. If you bathe or shower at night, do this no later than an hour before your bedtime. This should also include a way for your subconscious mind to learn that jammies mean time to wind down and settle for sleep.

3. Wind down. Limit your electronic activity to no more than a mild tv show. Stay away from horror and mega action type stuff. Do not get on your phone or computer after you get your pj's on. The type of light emitted from computer screens and phones cause you to stay awake. Plus it's a huge distraction. Ideally, soft music and some reading is best.

4. If you aren't especially tired, try warm milk with honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. If you like bottles, skip the cinnamon since it gets stuck in the nipple. If you don't like milk, try an herbal tea that has camomile or hibiscus. Black and green teas have caffeine.

5. Get in bed. Try to make your bed a place of sleep. Make sure you have the right pillows, the air is set a bit cooler, you have the right blanket weight. If you find yourself unable to sleep, get out of bed for 15 mins and read or write. No tv or computer now. If you find your mind racing, try journaling after pj time to clear your mind. Also keep a notebook and pen close to joy down things that may wake you up in the middle of the night.

6. Get up at the same time every day. Or try to at least. Once your alarm goes off, get up, get dressed, make your bed, and eat breakfast. Laying around in bed slows down your productivity and alertness. A lot of recent studies state having a glass of cold water moments after waking up will also help rid your body of those sleepies.

7. Try as best you can to avoid naps, at least until you solidly have better sleep. Remember it takes 7 days to create a habit. Best advice would be try going a month with out naps. If you find yourself extremely tired, limit it to 20 mins and not any later than 3pm.

8. If you find you're still having trouble sleeping after doing all these steps, consider your type of food and drink intake as well as when you're eating and drinking.

Best of luck to you all and happy sleeping!

But I cant manage to get to sleep at same time, no matter what I do

I can be dead tired and not fall asleep other times I can be fully awake and not notice I fall asleep

Just like when I write this.. its 3 am and I'm about to go to bed

This time it might be my own fault as I been sleeping a lot during the day (Really bored/nothing to do/Sunday)

Let me be the redneck that leans back and says "yup, well there's your problem right thar".

Walking up at the same time is small potatoes compared to going TO bed at the same time. This means do it regardless if you're tired or not, and will likely sit in bed staring at the ceiling for five hours! Eventually your body WILL learn and adjust to a certain time as being when it's time to sleep. Not adhering to this for even one night a week will throw this all off.

Also, most experts recommend around 8 hours of sleep and getting up around sunup. If you're on a computer at 3am you shouldn't be surprised you can't sleep very good.
