All I know is if you barely know them and have never met them in real life be careful about meeting a stranger! People aren't always who they claim to be online (sadly) and that's just how it goes. If you do plan on meeting someone do it in a public area like a restaurant but really get to know them before hand. It's never a smart idea to rush head first into any relationships even with a caretaker.

I havent met my daddy irl yet, but we have been together now for almost a year. We skype daily and sometimes we skype with the video on, that is one way to make sure someone is who they claim to be. I would say dont rush things, skype is like meeting the person but in a safer place.

First you need to follow the safety rules for meeting anybody you don't know. Google "Safe Dating": and you'll see all the advice for this

Meeting people irl from online contacts should be handled just like any other meeting. How well do you know them? If you don't really know much about them then... they are still a stranger danger situation, so just take that into account if you want to meet them irl. Even if you have spent a lot of time with them online, it's still different than spending time irl. People are different in the flesh.
