Lanthey Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Just wanted to clarify.... I voting cursing, which I translated to mean swearing? Personally I don't swear, but understand others do. I don't think people should be kicked for swearing in context.... "This has just happened and it's really fudged me off" etc but I think attacking another member with a sea of swear words shouldn't be allowed. I voted PMing without permission but actually I've changed my mind. It's not THAT much of a problem is it really? I think you can block peoples pm's so maybe people could just do that instead? People talking about their wet/ messy nappies is not to my taste and personally I don't understand why people feel the need to share the contents of their underwear in public. I wonder how people would react if every time I was on my period I announced that in great detail? BUT again, I get we're on a adult, diaper chat room and that's what some people like to talk about. I don't think people should be kicked for it. SHOCKINGLY if I go into chat and people are talking about things that upset/ offend me.... I log off and go and do something else with my time. The beauty of life is that every single person has been created to be unique and different, what is acceptable to one person will be completely unacceptable to another and I think maybe we all (me included) need to be more tolerant of people and understand that our way is not necessarily the right way. <3
sarah_ab Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 SHOCKINGLY if I go into chat and people are talking about things that upset/ offend me.... I log off and go and do something else with my time. careful lanny, the next kickable offense is going to be common sense!
Eir Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Cursing, not a bannable or kickable offense. I very rarely swear, and I don't freak when others do! Spamming. I did not go to the chatroom to have others refer me to third party websites and products, not okay. PMing without permission. There seems to be double standard here. Several peeps have PMed without permission. I replied: No offense, sir/ma'am but I do not know who you are. I have a short list who can PM without permission, good friends on the site. Baby talk is cute as long as it is in English (meaning I can easily know what you man) Trolling is only an issue if it is made an issue. Many people like to talk about their soggy and messy diapers on chat. This is a part of the baby persona, and I do not feel it is offensive. I change my mind if this is the ONLY thing a person talks about.
Leilin Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 listening to all the complaints people have. i sure hope some of these people never leave their houses.. I mean imagine having someone you don't know say something to you... imagine someone swearing in your vicinity... imagine having to tell someone hitting on you you are not interested...imagine overhearing someone saying to someone else "i have to go to the bathroom"..... dear lord.. DO NOT EVER LEAVE YOUR ROOMS!!!! I mean if you can't handle anonymous people doing something you don't like in a chat room, then seriously.. don't go to stores, or restaurants, or ride any sort of public transportation, don't take classes, don't even drive with your window open.. for that matter don't watch tv or listen to the radio either... It has nothing to do with handling it or not. It has to do with making this chat a welcoming and fun place to be. We don't come to this site to "handle it" or "tolerate" it. We come to this site to relax and be among kindred folks and, I know this may shock you, being berated by halfwitted trolls is not most people's idea of relaxation.
sarah_ab Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 And going into chat and having to walk on eggshells when certain members are there because they are report happy and take offense to every thing said is also not a welcoming place.. going into chat and seeing someone talk about their private medical concerns in public, so you say something and then being attacked for joining a conversation in the public chat room... that is hostile.... saying "fucking hell i had a shitty day" and then being threatened with being reported because someone 'doesn't like swearing' that is hostile.... going into a chat room and having the majority of the members having a legit non flaming, non fighting discussion about a political matter and having 1 member throw a fit because they don't like the topic... and that member going and reporting people and making such a stink that suddenly they have the power to control how the caht is run... that is hostile. It seems like a few certain members in the last year who have become active in chat have taken it upon themselves to report everyone, to take offense to everything, to make it known that THEY have the power in the chat room, and to throw a fit when they don't get their way. I'm sorry, but allowing members to get their way simply because they yell the loudest and report the most is not really a friendly welcoming environment. Does it bother me? Sure, but what i do is just ignore the behavior, because whining and complaining is pointles, people will be poeple, and on the internet there will be trolls, and spammers, and horny people just looking to get off... it happens, but to want to run a chatroom where absolutely no mistakes are tolerated seems a bid absurd. Members are free to caht with each other outside of this chatroom, Aim, MSN, YAhoo, SKype are all free services where more private converastions can be had. Also there is a red X in the corner of the internet window where the chat screen can be closed. If there is conversation going on that a person isn't interested in, leave, or just do something else on the internet until people come in who you do want to chat with... but don't throw a hissy fit and demand people be booted and make countless reports about behavior simply because it upsets you that you are not the center of attention.. (i use you in the third person form, i am not referring to any specific person or member on this site, its just easier to type 'you' than s/he every single time.) 1
khell Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 "Many people like to talk about their soggy and messy diapers on chat. This is a part of the baby persona, and I do not feel it is offensive. I change my mind if this is the ONLY thing a person talks about. " ....i don't remember ever hearing any of my biological children ever discussing the contents of their diapers either privately or publicly...so obviously it is not part of a babyish persona..it is jus gross.... announce ya need a change or something but to go into much more detail than that is uncouth, disgusting and unnecessary and as already stated not something I see many "real" babies doing ever.
Leilin Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Does it bother me? Just because some types of moderation are overkill doesn't mean all are. Trolling and berating other users should never be tolerated. And, yes, you're right that overreporting dulls the issue, which is why it should be structured so there is always a moderator present or at least logging, just like moderation is done in the forums. This way those who cry wolf will not always get their way, but those who bog down the entire chat with consistent drama, arguments, and heavily insult other users intentionally can be taken care of.
belinda_sue_fox Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 public transportation Well i see your picking out poor people!!! 1
belinda_sue_fox Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 ok serious... Swearing it's an adult room but but there are a few who just add a swear word to every sentence . So yea it's common sense when it's needed to make a point. Err baby talk it's an ab/dl chat room...... Err peee and poop chat ...err again it's an ab/dl chat room I might not like it but come on the subject of the chat room is a tad of a give away. Ok if they "i filled my diaper and it stinks" every minute yea ok tell em to stop. Right onto more iffy subject porkypies..you know people tell em and some know who they are (stupid people need not read on) some people are obvious and need to be told to stop. err what else oh i dunno for me i'd ban moaning and whinning.
Codymoogle Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Right onto more iffy subject porkypies I don't know why, but the word "porkypies" just made me laugh so hard that I momentarily lost my ability to breathe. Thank you. ~ moogle 1
~*PrincessZozo*~ Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Whoever did I understand that by entering this chat, that I will not PM (Private Message) users unless they are asked on the main chat and agreed upon by that member. Failure to follow this rule will have youKICKED and or BANNED from chat, and with further violations, BANNED from this site. I LOVE YOU
Guest *~Andi~* Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Sarah... Im sorry but I would love to know how you know whose being and doing reporting anyways considering youre not a mod and as much as I am in chat, I hardly ever see you there. No offense, just curious. sarah_ab Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 in regards to who is doing the reporting ... wild guess im not in chat very much lately because i have been busy with work and school and because i have become dissatisfied with aspects of it .... there was a time not very long ago i was in very often.... but i have real world responsibilities that took precedence over chat
Bettypooh Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 It really doesn't matter who is doing the reporting- we always check into every one and decide what to do the same way for everyone. We're an equal-kickertunity shop here dadgummit Someone touched on this, but I'd also like to hear how y'all feel about chat users who seem to label people "Troll" or "HNG" on the chat board rather quickly, perhaps before they deserve that label. Just like these forums, a lot of what you get is decided by what you give. To have a nice Chatroom means that you have to be nice too. It is not a playground made for one or a few; it's there for everybody all together- the lot of us- and nobody should see it any differently. When in Chat, play nice or we will put you back in diapers (no, that won't work with this bunch ) OK, then play nice or we'll take your diapers away (no, that would make a mess : ) OK, OK then, just play nice- OK? Bettypooh
Guest *~Andi~* Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 in regards to who is doing the reporting ... wild guess im not in chat very much lately because i have been busy with work and school and because i have become dissatisfied with aspects of it .... there was a time not very long ago i was in very often.... but i have real world responsibilities that took precedence over chat Wow that came across as very insulting... but hey its whatever. If that is how you meant it then hey I take no offense considering you don't really know me anyhow. I do have a lot of time on my hands for the moment due to school being in break and I don't get to work on account of my contract, but I also have a tendency, in the case anyone wants to know, to wander away and leave my computer on with chat running, lol. So if you're insinuating that I have nothing better to do... well as you stated with the report thing... 'wild guess again.' If I read too much into that post and how it was promptly worded, then my apologies and just read the information I placed here as informative. As far as reporting goes, again it feels that you are implying there as well, however I don't bother reporting very many people. Not worth my time unless it gets pretty, I just pull up my big panties and handle it myself. My opinions states as far as chat rules go are just that , my opinions... I am entitled to them as are you. Im out... my breakfast awaits.
LilFozzyJ5 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Is there any chance that this thread doesnt decend into a tit for tat argument between people, with veiled alligations and such thrown around. Less inflamitary comments and some more constructive ones, and we might actually get to a point where the origional reason for this thread was meant. As I said in my previous post it is something we could do with sorting out so it is a nice place to go, and doesnt end up like DPF chat or any of the other ones people dont go to any more. Such as swearing in context is fine, but aiming insulting comments and swearing AT some one isnt fine... there is a distinction between the two. I also think if possible the rules/Guildlines that are finalised should come up when you go to sign in, yes some of it is on the forum, but how many people just log on and then click the 'chat' button without looking at the forum... come on people, lets actually get something useful out of a thread for once without it decending into bitching and back stabbing Please!!! Cheers Fozzy
sarah_ab Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I was not making vague allegatins and was not trying to be passive agressive or anything like that. I was stating it feels like a select few members have started to 'rule' chat... I did not name any names, simply because i did not feel this is the place, and because it is my feelings, and i have no desire to publically name members who may actually have nothing to do with how i perceive the current atmosphere of the room. I was simply stating, as a loooonnggg time user of the chat room, the changes I had felt.... then i was asked why i had not been in there, and stated because i had things come up in the non virtual world, which needed to addressed before i could think about hanging out in a chat room.
LilFozzyJ5 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 My post above wasnt just for your benifit Sarah, it was an opinion of the general way this thread was going. if we are not careful we wont get anything out of this. Which would be a real shame. I have been on the chat today since posting on this thread, and i have to say im impressed with the page you have to agree with so far...its a good start.
DiaperPony Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 It seems to me that we could really use two chat rooms: One for those who want to find mommies/daddies/roleplays/HNGs/etc and tend to use the chat to find a PM partner, and another where people are looking to have a group chat on whatever topic, diapers or otherwise (PMs probably minimal). I think at least some of the friction is due to competing goals for the people in the chat. 1
:dlb Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I dont do baby talk often, but I hardly see it as a reason to boot somebody.

The only way it would work is if one chatroom had all PM functions disabled.
sarah_ab Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 back like 3 or 4 updates ago the chatroom had more than one room. I remember there being a regular room and a baby talk room... and then users could create more rooms..... For a while the baby talk room was utilized
