I'm confused by the tabs - they look like plastic diaper tabs, but I have some Tena's in exactly that colour that are cloth-backed. I don't know if we get plastic Tena diapers here (Canada), but generally, the products we do get from them are not excellent, as you describe them. The breathable ones I have I typically wear to the gym, because they're slim and quiet, but they're only good for a few hours at most. North America only gets the cloth-backed ones, UK gets the plastic-backed ones. I've seen the plastic ones listed on some sites but they never have stock. I've been asking around for where I might be able to purchase the plastic ones and so far the only answer I've gotten is eBay. 1

Incontrol carries the plastic version: https://incontroldiapers.com/tena-slip-maxi-european-incontinence-briefs/ They are my go-to diapers for traveling... I wear them on planes, etc, because they are thin enough to be discreet in public, reasonably comfortable, and able to take a full bladder hit if I fall asleep... I actually like the Ultima's better, but they are rarely available here in the States. I stock up when they are available... https://incontroldiapers.com/tena-slip-active-ultima-incontinence-briefs/ 1

Very competitively priced even after shipping is figured in and they're pretty fast (about 2 weeks last time I ordered). 1
hendrik Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Wearing Tena active fit slip maxi L for a while now. It is my favorite slip to live my life. Maybe it needs some more frequent changes then a Betterdry for example, but the Tena is thin, doesnt make noise and holds dribble and the occasional flood. Just change in time to avoid leaks.
SparklyPrincess Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Tena Maxi were my go-to around 2003-2005, before M4s hit the UK market. Now, I use the PE-backed Ultima with 2 different boosters and they're very cosy and cost efficient, even with the cost of two boosters.
soggster Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 I miss how good the old M4s were. My experience of the new ones is that they're just a polite request for pee not to immediately seep through them. They're better than a sieve but leave all clothing underneath them slightly damp and smelling of pee.
nickandlucy2 Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 I’m a big fan of Tena I wear them every night for bed I use ultima On weekend and maxi in the week
uk_DL Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 for some reason, i can no longer get the fit perfect. I seem to have gaps around the sides of my bottom. the brand used to fit really good.
Tuinbroekie Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Tena’s European and American diapers are vastly different. The picture a few posts back shows a Tena Slip Active Fit Maxi EU version, which happens to be the one I’m currently wearing. 🔵 Tena Slip Active Fit (Europe) Features a plastic backsheet, which feels soft and adds to the secure, protected sensation. Uses second-change tapes—a blue adhesive strip that can't be removed without damaging the plastic. Stays snug after extended wear, even after a few wettings. The outer surface remains dry to the touch when wet. Crinkles softly when you move—subtle, discrete enough under jeans. 🟢 Tena Slip ProSkin (Europe) Comes with a cloth-backed breathable outer layer—gentler on the skin. White tapes allow multiple adjustments, which is great for repositioning. Same level of absorbency as Active Fit. Backsheet is also soft, but less flexible. Downsides: it can sag more easily and sometimes feels slightly damp externally when full. European Tena In my experience is one of the most reliable medical-grade diapers available in Europe. The absorbency and dryness retention beat most other brands. Fit is solid overall—though I’d say European Attends diapers fit even better (but can't near hold as much). 1
HolliHaral Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 On 4/7/2023 at 2:07 PM, HolliHaral said: It is with great sadness that I have to report Tena went the almost same route as Attends and Abena before and have largely reduced the Ultima to just a below average diaper. They have become thin and have far less capacity. One wetting* that's all, after that it starts leaking when wetting while sitting or laying down. Standing up will take that 2nd wetting but brings you in the danger zone when sitting down. The former Ultima was very well engineered, with different layers of absorbing material. In general, it would take two wettings in any position. Standing up, a third was always possible and allowing it a little time to get fully absorbed, after that I could safely sit or lay down. Also, it would keep it's structure, even when soaked. With the current Ultima they kept the outside, but there is just that thin layer of absorbing material in it. And I mean, really thin. There is no structure in it either, it just becomes a mess. Only good is, because they kept the hull, it fits well, the tapes are the best -but don't like refastening. *my typical wetting will be 400-600 ml The Tenu Ultima Slip Large (Proskin) I received lately have been once again significantly changed and degraded. Fresh from the package they feel thin and the weight is app. 45 gr. less from a pre-2023 Ultima, nearly a quarter in absorbance material reduction! The wet now is absorbed mostly at the front. Granted, it will take up to three wettings but then a sort of power bulge is formed. With the increased weight from the wettings they start to sag. The former version would stay tight on, even with extreme loads (when I modified them), this last Ultima's outside will stretch. Also the tapes will come off, mostly because the outside finish gets loose from the inside plastic layer. And finally I have ripped apart several already when putting them on. 1
soggster Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Is there some sort of rating inflation going on... I feel like Ultimas have become what Maxis were? That said, I preferred the old Maxi much more than the current Ultima. I guess when they make changes they need to state the new capacity but maybe they don't need to change the name of the line?
Goerge Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I really like the Tena Slip active fit Maxi, I recently brought a case of them and they have improved since my last case a few years ago, the tapes are much better and they feel more solid. They will never be like they was 25 years ago, I have a lot of nostalgia for them because Tena slip supers were my first incontinence nappy my foster parents got me. I have always loved how medical they are. 1
